Fits Sokkia SHC250 and SHC2500 data collectors; replaces OEM part BT-66Q.
7.4V 3400mAh Li-ion cell delivers 25.16Wh for extended survey sessions in remote field locations.
Connector seats vertically into battery slot with single locking tab; inspect pin alignment before insertion.
We bench-tested this cell on SHC250 simulator load — BMS accepted handshake clean, held steady voltage through sustained logging draw.
After installation, run full calibration through the SHC250 menu before field deployment — instrument maps battery state during calibration and skips this step triggers premature low-battery warnings on first measurement session.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sokkia SHC250 / SHC2500 Data Collector — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BT-66Q)

This is a 7.4V 3400mAh Li-ion battery for the Sokkia SHC250 and SHC2500 handheld data collectors. It replaces OEM part BT-66Q and fits the standard battery bay on both the SHC250 and SHC2500 variants. These controllers are used for field data capture in surveying and construction, so battery reliability directly affects job continuity on site.

  • SHC250 and SHC2500 fitment: Both models run the same 7.4V battery rail and share the BT-66Q form factor, connector, and BMS handshake protocol — one part covers both units.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the SHC250 charge and discharge sequence and confirmed the BMS communicates correctly with the controller's power management circuit. Charge acceptance, cell balancing, and cutoff thresholds all matched OEM behaviour.
  • First field deployment preparation: After installing this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the SHC250's instrument menu before heading to site. The controller maps battery state during that process — skipping it causes premature low-battery warnings during your first logging session, even when the pack is well charged.

BMS lockout after the SHC250 sits unused in a carry case for months

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the SHC250 sat unused long enough, the pack may have dropped below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. At that point, the BMS enters a protection state and blocks charge input entirely. The controller may show no charging activity even with a known-good cable and power source. To recover the pack, connect it to the OEM charger and leave it for at least 30–60 minutes without interruption — the charger applies a trickle current that can bring the cells back above the BMS wake threshold before normal charging resumes.

SHC250 shuts down during USB data transfer to a PC

USB data transfer adds a combined load — active display, GPS or sensor modules staying live, and USB bus power draw — that can push the instantaneous current draw above what a degraded or partially charged cell can sustain. The BMS reads this as an over-current or under-voltage event and trips the protection circuit, cutting the unit off mid-transfer. This is not a software fault. Charge the pack to at least 7.2V before starting a transfer session, and close any background applications on the controller to reduce concurrent draw.

Frequently Asked Questions

The SHC250 powers on fine but cuts out the moment the GPS module initialises — is that a battery fault?

Yes. The GPS module draws a short current spike at initialisation that can trip the BMS on a weak or partially discharged pack. We saw this on the bench — the pack voltage sags briefly at module power-up, and the BMS shuts down to protect the cells. Charge the battery fully before powering on, and check that the pack sits at or above 7.2V before starting a survey session.

After a logging session, the SHC250 battery indicator jumps erratically between charge levels on reboot — what causes that?

The SHC250's charge indicator recalibrates its voltage thresholds to the new cell's discharge curve, and until it completes a full charge-discharge cycle, the displayed percentage can be inconsistent at startup. This is not a fault with the pack — it is the controller learning the new battery's characteristics. Run one complete charge to full and discharge to auto-shutoff, then recharge fully, and the indicator will stabilise.

The SHC2500 won't charge after sitting in the site vehicle for several weeks — the charger LED stays off entirely.

Extended storage in a hot vehicle accelerates self-discharge, and the pack may have dropped below the BMS recovery voltage. When cells fall under approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS stops accepting charge input and the charger shows no activity. Connect to the OEM charger and leave it undisturbed for up to an hour — the charger's trickle-charge stage will attempt to raise cell voltage above the BMS wake point. If the LED activates within that window, the pack is recovering; continue charging normally to full.
