Fits Soundcast VG3 portable speaker, replaces OEM part 2-540-009-01.
3.7V 6800mAh Li-ion cell — matches original capacity for full audio runtime on a single charge.
Connector seats flat into speaker battery bay with no locking tab; orientation marked on housing.
Bench testing shows BMS accepts charge on first insertion; cell draws stable current under speaker amplifier load.
On this speaker, discharge the battery below 20% once monthly before recharging — constant top-off charging causes fuel gauge drift and accelerates capacity fade on the Li-ion cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Soundcast VG3 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (2-540-009-01)

This is a 3.7V 6800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Soundcast VG3 portable Bluetooth speaker. It also fits the SUD-VGBT03A and 21391-VGBT03A units. Swap it when the original cell no longer holds a useful charge.

  • VG3, SUD-VGBT03A, and 21391-VGBT03A compatibility: All three model codes share the same single-cell 3.7V architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake — the same replacement cell serves all of them without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the VG3 platform. The onboard BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, balanced correctly, and the speaker's fuel gauge tracked the state of charge through the full cycle.
  • Monthly discharge cycle on the VG3: Soundcast VG3 users tend to top off the speaker after every short session. Constant shallow cycling without a full discharge causes fuel gauge drift and accelerates capacity fade on the Li-ion cell. Let the charge drop below 20% at least once a month before plugging back in.

Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty

As the cell ages, internal resistance rises. Under the combined current draw of the amplifier and the Bluetooth radio, terminal voltage sags faster than the fuel gauge can reflect. The amplifier clips before the indicator shows low battery — you hear distortion while the display still shows charge. A fresh cell at 6800mAh and lower internal resistance eliminates the sag that causes clipping.

Bluetooth dropping specifically at high volume

Cranking the VG3 to maximum volume spikes amplifier current draw sharply. On a degraded or partially discharged cell, that spike pulls terminal voltage below the threshold the Bluetooth radio needs to stay connected. The radio drops out even though audio was fine at lower levels. If the dropout only happens above 70% volume, voltage sag under peak amp draw is the cause — a new cell resolves it.

Frequently Asked Questions

My VG3 shows full charge on the indicator but the audio starts cutting out after an extended session — what's happening?

This is fuel gauge drift caused by shallow cycling. When the battery is repeatedly topped off before dropping below 50%, the fuel gauge loses calibration and reports full charge while actual capacity has faded significantly. The speaker draws enough current from the degraded cell that voltage sags under load well before the indicator catches up. Let the pack discharge fully below 20% once, then charge to 100% to recalibrate — if the problem persists, the cell needs replacing.

The VG3 Bluetooth drops out only when I push the volume past about 70% — the speaker doesn't show low battery, so why is this happening?

At high volume, the amplifier pulls a sharp current spike. If the cell's internal resistance has risen through age or degradation, that spike collapses terminal voltage enough to cut power to the Bluetooth radio, even when the battery indicator still reads healthy. The fix is a fresh cell with lower internal resistance — the voltage no longer sags far enough under peak amp draw to drop the radio.

I left the VG3 stored for several months and now it won't respond to charging — is the battery recoverable?

Extended storage without a top-up charge can drain a Li-ion cell below the minimum voltage the charging circuit will accept — typically below 2.5V for a 3.7V cell. At that point, the BMS locks out charging as a safety measure and the speaker shows no response. Plug the speaker into a 5V USB source and hold the power button for 10 seconds to attempt a BMS wake cycle. If the charging indicator still doesn't appear after two attempts, the cell is below recovery threshold and needs replacing.
