Fits Stiga SAB 24 AE, SC 24 AE, SGT 24 AE, SHT 24 AE and related 24V models with standard slot connector.
This 24V 4000mAh lithium-ion pack delivers 96Wh — sufficient for typical residential hedge trimming, grass cutting, and light pruning cycles.
Connector slides straight into the tool's battery slot with a positive lock tab; no adapter needed.
We bench-tested the BMS under motor inrush load — no false cutoff on trigger pull or sustained half-throttle operation.
On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before full-throttle work to let the BMS calibrate motor inrush current thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Stiga SAB 24 AE Series — 24V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 24V, 4000mAh (96Wh) lithium-ion battery for the Stiga SAB 24 AE and compatible 24V cordless garden tools. It fits the SAB 24 AE, SC 24 AE, SGT 24 AE, and SHT 24 AE. The physical footprint is 126.80 × 78.00 × 71.20mm — confirm your original battery matches before ordering.

  • 24V platform compatibility: The SAB 24 AE, SC 24 AE, SGT 24 AE, and SHT 24 AE all run the same 24V battery rail and share the same connector housing. One pack covers the full lineup without any adapter or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack under variable load to confirm the BMS communicates correctly with the charger, holds the 24V rail steady through load transitions, and trips overcurrent protection at the expected threshold without nuisance cutoffs.
  • Motor inrush conditioning on first use: Run the tool at light load — trimming, not dense brush — for the first two cycles. This lets the BMS log the motor's inrush current signature before it sets overcurrent trip thresholds for full-load applications.

BMS cutoff on trigger-pull inrush surge in the SAB 24 AE

When the motor starts, current draw spikes sharply before the rotor reaches speed — this is inrush current, and it can be three to five times the steady running draw. If the BMS hasn't profiled the motor yet, it may read that spike as a fault and cut the pack. A new or freshly stored battery is most likely to trip here. Two light-load cycles teach the BMS where the normal inrush ceiling sits, after which full-load starts proceed without interruption.

Charger won't recognise the pack after it's been sitting unused

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the pack drops below roughly 2.5V per cell, most chargers won't initiate a charge cycle — the voltage is too low for the charger's acceptance threshold. The tool will also show no response when triggered. Place the battery on the charger and leave it for 30–40 minutes; some chargers enter a slow-recovery trickle mode that brings cells back above the acceptance voltage before switching to normal charge. If the charger shows no activity at all after 45 minutes, check that the pack's terminal voltage reads at least 18V with a multimeter before continuing.

Frequently Asked Questions

The SAB 24 AE cuts out the instant I pull the trigger — why does a brand-new battery do this?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip triggered by motor-start inrush current. The spike on trigger-pull can hit three to five times the normal running draw, and a new pack's BMS hasn't yet logged what's normal for that motor. Run two light-load cycles first — thin grass, gentle passes — so the BMS profiles the inrush before you hit dense material. After that, full-load starts should proceed without cutoff.

The tool turns on but bogs down and loses power under a heavy cutting load — is the battery faulty?

That's voltage sag, not a faulty cell. Under sustained heavy load, internal resistance across the battery terminals causes the voltage rail to drop, and the tool's motor controller responds by reducing output. Check that the battery contacts are clean and seating fully — corroded or loose contacts add resistance and make sag worse. If the contacts are clean and the sag is severe on a new pack, cycle the battery fully two to three times; capacity and rail stability typically improve as the cells condition.

The battery works fine in warm weather but the tool runs noticeably weaker on cold mornings — what's happening?

Li-ion internal resistance rises significantly below 5°C, which reduces the current the pack can deliver without voltage sag. The tool isn't damaged and the battery isn't degrading — it's a reversible chemistry effect. Bring the pack indoors for 20–30 minutes before use in cold conditions; once the cells reach roughly 15°C, output returns to normal levels.
