Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SurgiTel Eclipse EHL65 / Odyssey Analog — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (25458)
This is a 7.4V 2600mAh lithium-ion battery for the SurgiTel Eclipse EHL65 surgical headlight system. It fits the EHL65, EHL-65, and Odyssey Analog loupes-mounted illumination units used in dental and surgical settings. Voltage and connector match OEM spec (part number 25458 / OM0134).
- EHL65 and Odyssey Analog platform compatibility: Both models share the same 7.4V power rail, battery connector, and BMS handshake protocol — that is why one cell services both. The BMS on each unit checks cell voltage and internal resistance at startup before passing power to the LED driver board.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the EHL65 power-on sequence and confirmed the BMS completed its startup verification without triggering a false fault. The LED driver received stable voltage within the expected range across the full charge cycle.
- Startup sequence on medical hardware: After installing this battery, allow the EHL65 to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The BMS runs a cell-verification routine at boot — cutting power mid-sequence causes a latched fault state that does not clear until the next full cold reboot.
Why the EHL65 reports low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge
The EHL65 BMS stores a learned discharge profile calibrated to the original cell's internal resistance. A new cell presents a different resistance signature, which the BMS initially reads as a partially depleted pack — even when voltage is at 8.4V fully charged. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. One complete charge-to-discharge cycle allows the BMS to update its learned parameters and clear the alarm. After that first conditioning cycle, low-battery alerts track accurately.
EHL65 fails to power on after the battery sat unused in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge roughly 2–3% per month. A cell stored for several months can drop below the EHL65 BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell, or 5.0V pack voltage — at which point the BMS locks out power delivery as a protection measure. Place the battery on the OEM charger and leave it connected for a minimum of 30 minutes before attempting to power the unit. If the charger shows no activity, the cell may need a brief pre-charge pulse; use only a charger that supports recovery mode for Li-ion cells below 5.0V pack voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions
The EHL65 keeps shutting off mid-procedure even though the battery showed fully charged before I started — what's happening?
New cells stress harder under the EHL65's load profile during the first 10 charge-discharge cycles because the BMS has not yet built an accurate capacity map for the replacement chemistry. The BMS uses a conservative cutoff threshold during this break-in period, which triggers an early shutdown before the cell is actually depleted. Run three full charge-discharge cycles outside clinical use to let the BMS calibrate. After that, the cutoff behaviour normalises and shutdowns stop occurring at high state of charge.
The charge indicator on the EHL65 charger won't reach 100% on the first charge of the new battery — is the cell defective?
It is not defective. The charge IC applies a reduced termination current on the first charge cycle when it detects a new cell with unfamiliar internal resistance — this causes the charger to terminate early and display something below 100%. Place the battery back on the charger immediately after the first use cycle and let it charge uninterrupted to completion. The charge IC updates its termination parameters after the first full cycle, and subsequent charges reach full capacity normally.
The EHL65 passed self-test and powered on, but now it's throwing a battery fault alarm partway through the self-test on the next boot — what resets this?
The EHL65 BMS latches a fault flag if the startup self-test sequence was interrupted during a previous session — a power interruption mid-boot writes an incomplete verification record. Power the unit off completely, wait 10 seconds for the BMS to clear its volatile state, then power on and let the full self-test sequence run without touching any controls. If the fault persists after two clean boot cycles, charge the battery to 8.4V on the OEM charger before reattempting, as the BMS will not pass self-test if pack voltage is below its startup acceptance threshold.
