Fits Suunto Spartan Trainer, Spartan Trainer Wrist Heart Rate Sport, and Spartan Trainer Wrist HR models; replaces OEM part numbers PR-402626P and PR-352828.
This 3.7V, 230mAh Li-Polymer cell powers GPS tracking, heart rate monitoring, and training features; voltage matches the original single-cell architecture for your watch.
Connector seats into the internal battery cavity with a two-pin JST plug; polarity marked on the pack and housing ensures correct orientation during reassembly.
We bench-tested this cell in the Spartan Trainer platform; the fuel gauge IC recognized the new pack after a full charge cycle from power-off.
After fitting the cell, place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately and charge to 100% before wearing — the fuel gauge cannot calibrate without a full charge from near-zero on smartwatch platforms.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Suunto Spartan Trainer Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PR-402626P)

This 3.7V, 230mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Suunto Spartan Trainer, Spartan Trainer Wrist HR, and Spartan Trainer Wrist Heart Rate Sport. It fits the compact 27.80 × 26.00 × 4.00mm cavity on all three variants. Swap it when the original cell no longer holds charge through a full training session.

  • Spartan Trainer variant compatibility: All three Spartan Trainer models share the same mainboard voltage rail, connector pitch, and BMS handshake protocol — this cell seats and communicates identically across the lineup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Spartan Trainer unit. The BMS accepted the new cell without fault flags, fuel gauge initialisation completed normally, and GPS lock held through multiple acquisition cycles.
  • Fuel gauge reset after fitting: Place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately after installing this cell and charge to 100% before using it. The fuel gauge IC on the Spartan Trainer platform cannot set its reference point without a full charge cycle from near-zero following a cell swap — skipping this step causes the percentage readout to drift badly.

Why the Spartan Trainer drains faster with continuous wrist HR active

The optical heart rate sensor on the Spartan Trainer runs a green LED array and a photodiode amplifier continuously when wrist HR mode is on. That draw is proportional to skin contact quality — a loose fit makes the sensor boost its LED current to compensate. On a fresh 230mAh cell, that variance shows up more noticeably than on a worn cell because the voltage curve is steeper at the top end. Snug the watch one notch tighter during HR-active workouts to keep sensor current in its normal operating band.

Magnetic charge contacts not registering after reassembly

The Spartan Trainer charges through a four-pin magnetic pogo connector on the case back. If the watch does not appear on the charger after a battery swap, the most common cause is the case back seating slightly off-axis during reassembly, which shifts the contact pads away from the pogo pins. Remove the charger, reseat it with the alignment notch centred, and press gently until you feel the magnet pull. If the charging indicator still does not appear, check that the battery connector is fully clicked in — a half-seated connector prevents the charge circuit from enabling, and the watch will show no response at all.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Spartan Trainer shows 0% and won't turn on right after I fitted the new battery — did I get a dead cell?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The Spartan Trainer's fuel gauge IC loses its charge reference when the battery is disconnected, and it reads zero until a full charge cycle re-establishes it. Place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately and leave it until the display confirms 100% — do not power it on mid-charge. After that first full cycle the percentage readout will track correctly.

The battery is draining completely in a single day now — it used to last several days on the original cell.

Always-on display combined with continuous wrist heart rate monitoring is the most common cause. On the Spartan Trainer, switching HR monitoring from continuous to interval mode (set to 60-second intervals in the watch settings) cuts sensor current significantly. Also check whether GPS was left logging in the background from the last activity — an incomplete session save can keep the GPS module awake and pull the cell down to cutoff voltage (around 3.0V) overnight.

The watch stopped pairing with my phone after I swapped the battery — Bluetooth just won't connect.

Removing the battery clears the active BLE session, and the phone's OS often holds on to the old connection record as if the watch is still present. On your phone, go into Bluetooth settings, forget the Spartan Trainer entirely, then open the Suunto app and run a fresh pairing from the app's device menu — do not try to pair from the phone's Bluetooth menu directly. Make sure the watch is showing the pairing screen (hold the top-right button until the BLE icon appears) before initiating from the app.
