The scanner interprets this as cell failure and shuts down. A new, fully charged pack at low internal resistance eliminates the voltage sag that triggers the cutoff. Scanner won't recognise the battery after it sat unused in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the pack voltage drops below roughly 6.0V, the Symbol scanner's BMS enters a lockout state and refuses to power the device. The fix is a slow pre-charge: place the pack in the dock for 20–30 minutes without powering the scanner on. This trickle current brings cells back above the BMS recovery threshold. Once the dock LED shifts from fault to charging, the scanner will power on normally.
