Fits Symbol MC30, MC3000, MC3070, MC3090 and related models; replaces OEM part numbers 55-060112-86, BTRY-MC30EABOE, 55-060117-05, SY29L-1D, and others listed.
3.7V, 4400mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 16.28Wh to sustain scan cycles and wireless transmission without mid-shift drops.
Connector slides into the battery slot with a positive contact tab that seats flush against the scanner's spring clip.
We ran thermal load tests on the MC30 frame with continuous barcode scanning and radio polling; the BMS held steady current delivery through peak inrush events.
After inserting this cell into the cradle for the first time, run a full charge cycle before field deployment — the scan trigger draws maximum current when the pack is near minimum, and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS shutdowns during your opening shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Symbol MC3000 / MC3090 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (55-060112-86)

This 3.7V, 4400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the depleted pack in Symbol MC30, MC3000, MC3070, and MC3090 series handheld barcode scanners. It matches the original cell format, voltage rail, and BMS handshake so the host device recognises the pack on first insertion. Capacity is sourced from the product specification — 4400mAh / 16.28Wh.

  • MC30 / MC3000 / MC3070 / MC3090 platform fit: All four model lines share the same 3.7V battery bay, contact pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One pack covers the full family without adapter changes or firmware flags.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on an MC3090 unit. The BMS reported state-of-charge correctly in the device menu, and the charge cradle accepted the pack without fault codes on every test cycle.
  • First-shift cradle cycle: After installing the new pack, seat the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before pulling it into active picking. Scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum charge — a fully conditioned cell prevents false BMS trips on the first shift.

Cradle showing a charging error on a freshly installed pack

MC-series cradles use contact resistance to verify pack seating before starting a charge cycle. Oxidation or debris on the battery's gold contacts raises that resistance above the dock's threshold, and the cradle flags a fault instead of charging. Remove the pack, wipe the contacts on both the battery and the cradle bay with a dry cloth, then reseat firmly. If the fault clears, the contact surface was the issue — not the pack or the dock.

Scanner losing wireless connection during a rapid scan burst

When the MC3090 fires the scan trigger repeatedly in quick succession, the combined draw from the imager and the 802.11 radio can spike the load on a low-charge cell. Voltage sags briefly below the radio module's operating floor, and the wireless link drops before the BMS trips the pack. This is not a defective battery — it is a cell-state issue. Charge the pack to at least 3.9V before the shift starts, and the voltage headroom will absorb the combined inrush without dropping the wireless session.

Frequently Asked Questions

The MC3090 scanner won't read barcodes right after I swapped the battery — laser comes on but no decode

The imager and decode engine need a stable voltage above the minimum operating threshold to process a scan. A new pack shipped in partial charge may not supply enough headroom on the first trigger pull. Seat the battery in the cradle and charge it fully before use — once the cell hits 4.1–4.2V, the decode engine runs at full capacity and the issue clears.

My MC3000 gets noticeably warm after a full warehouse shift — is the battery causing it?

Sustained combined draw from the scan trigger and the wireless radio generates heat in both the cell and the enclosed housing. This is expected behaviour when the scanner runs continuous pick-and-pack cycles for several hours. If the housing is hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold, check that the battery contacts are clean and seated flat — a poor contact creates resistance at the terminal, which adds heat. A properly seated pack at full charge runs cooler than one operating near the low-voltage cutoff.

Battery shows full charge on the device screen but shift endurance is noticeably shorter than the old pack

State-of-charge percentage on the MC-series display is calculated from voltage, not from a calibrated fuel gauge cycle. A new pack that has not completed a full charge-discharge cycle can report 100% while holding less usable capacity than expected. Run two or three complete charge cycles through the cradle — charge to full, use the scanner until the low-battery warning triggers, then recharge fully. After the third cycle, the reported percentage tracks actual capacity more accurately.
