Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Tactacam REVEAL SK / REVEAL X Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EM6)
This is a 7.4V, 5000mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Tactacam REVEAL SK, REVEAL X, REVEAL X Pro, and REVEAL XB trail and action cameras. It uses OEM part numbers EM6 and EM6-D and fits directly into the original battery slot. The cell chemistry and BMS parameters match the camera's charge controller expectations.
- REVEAL SK / X / X Pro / XB compatibility: These models share the same battery form factor, voltage rail, and connector layout. The EM6 fits all of them without adapter hardware or wiring changes.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on compatible hardware. The BMS held cutoff voltage correctly and the protection circuit tripped as expected on overload — no thermal events.
- Cold-weather field use tip: Keep this battery in an inner pocket until you're ready to shoot. Li-ion cells lose 15–25% usable capacity at 0°C and up to 40% at −20°C. A body-temperature battery installed just before use will deliver significantly more capacity than one that's been sitting in a cold pack or vehicle overnight.
Why REVEAL cameras drain faster in cold outdoor conditions
Li-ion cells slow their electrochemical reaction rate as temperature drops. Below 0°C, internal resistance rises sharply, which means the cell delivers less usable voltage under load even if the state of charge reads full. The REVEAL's firmware reads voltage to estimate charge level, so elevated internal resistance causes the displayed percentage to drop faster than the actual stored energy — it's not a faulty battery, it's physics. Warming the battery before deployment is the most effective fix.
Camera won't boot after the battery sat cold in storage
If a Li-ion cell discharges below approximately 2.5V per cell (5.0V total for a 2S pack like this one) during cold storage, the BMS may lock out the output to protect the cells. The camera won't turn on — not because it's broken, but because the protection circuit has tripped. Connect the battery to a compatible charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes. Most chargers apply a low-current trickle at this stage to recover the cell voltage above the BMS threshold before switching to normal charge current.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Tactacam REVEAL X shows a full charge but dies way faster than usual when it's cold outside — is the battery failing?
The battery isn't failing — cold temperatures raise internal resistance in Li-ion cells, which causes voltage to sag under load even when state of charge appears full. The camera reads voltage to estimate remaining capacity, so it reads low faster than the actual stored energy drops. Store the battery in a warm inner pocket and insert it just before use. At 0°C you can lose 15–25% of usable capacity; keeping the cell above 10°C before deployment largely eliminates this.
My REVEAL SK won't turn on at all after sitting in the truck overnight in winter — what happened?
Cold temperatures accelerate self-discharge, and if the battery dropped below roughly 5.0V total (2.5V per cell), the BMS locked the output to prevent cell damage. The camera reads this as no battery present, so it won't boot. Plug the battery into a charger — most will apply a recovery trickle current below normal charge rate until the cell voltage climbs above the BMS enable threshold, then switch to full charge. Once the charger shows a normal charge cycle running, the cells are recovering.
Water got into my REVEAL X battery compartment during a rain session — can I just dry it and carry on?
Don't power the camera on until you've confirmed the battery contacts and compartment are fully dry. Moisture bridging the contacts can cause a short-circuit that triggers the BMS or corrodes the terminals over time even if nothing fails immediately. Remove the battery, wipe both the battery contacts and the camera bay with a dry cloth, and let both air out for several hours before reinstalling. Check that the battery cover seal seats flush before the next wet-conditions session — a degraded gasket is the most common entry point.
