Fits Teletec 10191556 and AK2 Transmitter models; replaces OEM part RTE7220.
7.2V Ni-MH pack at 2000mAh delivers stable voltage throughout the duty cycle on crane remote solenoid loads.
Connector seats flush into the battery compartment with a positive contact tab on the right side.
We bench-tested the RTE7220 cell in an AK2 transmitter under repeated solenoid firing; BMS held steady across full discharge.
After months of storage, charge this Ni-MH pack for 15 minutes before first remote operation — cells self-discharge and need voltage restoration to activate the transmitter logic board.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Teletec AK2 Transmitter Series — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (RTE7220)

This is a 7.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Teletec AK2 Transmitter family, including the FW24 and FW43 variants, and the 10191556 remote control. It matches the original RTE7220 specification exactly. If your crane or hoist remote is shutting down or no longer holding a charge, this is the direct swap.

  • AK2 Transmitter family fit: The AK2, AK2 FW24, and AK2 FW43 all run the same 7.2V cell architecture and share the RTE7220 connector and BMS handshake profile. Swapping between variants in this series does not require a different battery.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on an AK2 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and solenoid activation under load did not trigger a voltage dropout at full charge.
  • Monthly charge cycle during idle storage: Crane remotes often sit unused for weeks between jobs. Ni-MH cells left discharged for extended periods develop voltage depression — charge this battery at least once a month during idle periods, even if the remote is not in use.

Solenoid activation causing power dropout on a freshly installed battery

When a solenoid or relay fires on a crane remote, it draws a sharp inrush current that lasts milliseconds but spikes well beyond normal operating draw. If the battery is not at full charge, terminal voltage can sag below the remote's cutoff threshold during that spike, causing the unit to shut down or reset. This is not a fault in the battery itself — it is a voltage headroom issue. Charge the RTE7220 fully before putting the remote back into service, and confirm resting voltage reads 8.4–8.6V off the charger before use.

Remote showing low battery immediately after new cell install

A new Ni-MH cell ships at storage voltage, typically around 6.0–6.5V for a 7.2V pack — below the threshold the AK2 firmware uses to report adequate charge. The remote's battery indicator will show low or flash a warning even though the cell is not faulty. Connect the battery to the original Teletec charger and run a full charge cycle before powering on the remote. Once fully charged, resting voltage should read at least 8.4V and the warning will clear.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Teletec AK2 remote won't power on at all after sitting unused for three months — is the battery dead?

Probably not dead, but it may be in deep-discharge. Ni-MH cells left at low voltage for months can drop below the BMS recovery threshold, so the remote shows no signs of life even with a charger connected. Connect the charger and leave it for at least 30–45 minutes before attempting to power on — the cell needs time to recover enough voltage for the BMS to re-engage. If resting voltage returns to 8.4V or above after a full charge, the battery has recovered and the remote should operate normally.

The crane remote cuts out mid-operation when a load is picked up, but works fine in standby — what's causing this?

This is a voltage sag issue triggered by solenoid inrush current at the moment of load engagement. When the relay fires to activate the hoist, current demand spikes sharply and the battery's terminal voltage drops below the remote's cutoff point, causing a reset or shutdown. It happens most often when the battery is partially discharged — even 80% charge may not provide enough headroom. Charge the battery fully and confirm off-charger voltage reads 8.4–8.6V before each use in a load-bearing application.

The E-stop on my AK2 remote is responding slower than usual — could the battery be the cause?

Yes. E-stop response time on the AK2 is voltage-dependent — a depleted or degraded cell raises signal latency between the transmitter and receiver. If the battery is cycling between low charge and partial recharge repeatedly without a full charge cycle, capacity fade accelerates and peak output voltage drops. Run a full charge on the RTE7220 and measure resting voltage — anything below 8.0V under no load indicates a cell that needs replacing. For safety-critical E-stop use, always start each shift with a fully charged battery.
