Fits Telstra M1 and MR1100 hotspot models, replaces OEM part W-10.
3.7V and 5000mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers full capacity for extended hotspot sessions away from outlets.
Connector slides straight into the M1 battery slot with a single locking tab on the left side.
We bench-tested this cell under sustained WiFi broadcast and cellular modem draw; BMS held stable voltage throughout the test cycle.
During extended sessions with multiple connected devices, keep the hotspot in open air — the cellular radio at maximum power output generates significant heat that stresses the battery pack.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Telstra M1 / MR1100 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (W-10)

This is a 3.7V, 5000mAh lithium-polymer battery for the Telstra M1 and MR1100 mobile hotspot devices. It replaces OEM part W-10 and restores power to units where the original cell has degraded or failed. Capacity figure is taken directly from product specifications at 18.5Wh.

  • M1 and MR1100 fitment: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — the W-10 cell works across both without modification or adapter.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the M1 platform. The BMS communicated charge state correctly to the hotspot firmware, and no false low-battery cutoffs were triggered under combined modem and Wi-Fi load.
  • Ventilation during extended sessions: Keep the hotspot on an open surface when running multiple connected devices. The cellular radio pushes to maximum transmit power in weak signal areas, and heat buildup against the battery shortens cell life faster than discharge cycles alone.

Hotspot warm during extended sessions on a new battery

A fully charged W-10 cell can still run warm when the M1 is handling six or more connected devices in a low-signal area. The modem draws peak power trying to maintain the cellular link, and that current draw heats the battery from inside the cell. This is normal behaviour under load, but sustained temperatures above 40°C accelerate capacity fade in lithium-polymer cells. Place the unit flat on a hard surface with airflow underneath — not on fabric or inside a bag — during heavy sessions.

M1 won't power on after sitting unused for weeks

Lithium-polymer cells self-discharge over time, and the M1 firmware will not attempt to boot if the battery voltage has dropped below approximately 3.0V. The device appears completely dead — no LED, no response to the power button. Connect the hotspot to its original charger and leave it for at least 20–30 minutes before pressing the power button. If the LED does not respond at all after that period, check the charger output is reaching 5V at the cable tip before assuming the battery is the fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

My M1 hotspot keeps dropping Wi-Fi connections for all users mid-session — could the battery be causing this?

Yes, this is a known voltage-sag issue. When the M1 is running at maximum client connections and the cellular signal is weak, the combined modem and Wi-Fi radio draw spikes sharply enough to pull the battery voltage below the threshold the hotspot firmware needs to maintain stable output. The result is a momentary dropout that disconnects all clients at once. Reduce the maximum connected device count in the hotspot settings, or keep the unit plugged in during peak-load sessions to eliminate sag entirely.

The new W-10 battery is draining noticeably faster than the original did — what's causing this?

The most common cause is the number of connected devices combined with poor cellular signal in the area. Every extra connected device adds Wi-Fi radio overhead, and in a weak signal area the cellular modem runs at full transmit power continuously — that combination can push current draw well above the rated average. Check the signal indicator on the M1 status screen; if you are on one or two bars, the modem is the dominant drain. Moving the hotspot to a higher position or near a window typically drops current draw enough to make a visible difference in battery life.

Does leaving the M1 hotspot in 5G mode drain the battery faster than 4G mode?

It does, and the gap is significant. The 5G modem in the MR1100 draws roughly 30–50% more current than the 4G modem under equivalent conditions, because 5G millimetre-wave and sub-6GHz processing requires more radio-frequency power to maintain the connection. If your location has marginal 5G coverage, the modem is also switching between 5G and 4G repeatedly, which adds further drain. Locking the MR1100 to 4G-only mode in the network settings will extend charge duration noticeably when 5G signal is inconsistent.
