Fits Thuraya XT Dual and XT satellite phones, replaces OEM part numbers FWD03019 and TH-01-XT5.
3.7V, 2400mAh lithium-ion cell delivers the capacity these handsets need for sustained satellite connectivity in remote operations.
Connector mates directly to the XT Dual battery slot with positive and negative contacts aligned; no adapter required.
We bench-tested this cell in the XT Dual charging cradle and confirmed normal BMS handshake on first insertion without fault codes.
In sub-zero field conditions, keep the battery warm in an inner pocket before use — Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 0°C and the satellite acquisition current spike can trip the BMS on a cold cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Thuraya XT / XT Dual — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (FWD03019)

This 3.7V, 2400mAh Li-ion battery fits the Thuraya XT and XT Dual satellite phones. It replaces OEM part numbers FWD03019 and TH-01-XT5. Both phones share the same battery bay, connector, and BMS handshake protocol.

  • XT and XT Dual compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V power rail, use an identical physical connector, and expect the same BMS communication sequence at startup. One battery covers both handsets.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through satellite acquisition on the XT Dual — the BMS handled the antenna deployment plus radio transmit current spike without tripping. Voltage held stable across the draw curve.
  • Cold-field pre-warming: Below 0°C, Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply. The satellite acquisition current spike — antenna deployment plus full transmit power — can trip the BMS on a cold cell. In sub-zero conditions, keep the battery in an inner jacket pocket for at least 15 minutes before powering the handset.

BMS cutoff during satellite acquisition on the Thuraya XT Dual

Satellite acquisition pulls the hardest current draw the XT Dual produces — antenna deployment and the radio searching at maximum power hit simultaneously. An aged or cold cell can't hold voltage across that spike, so the BMS trips to protect the cell and the phone shuts off before a lock is achieved. This isn't a phone fault. It's the BMS doing its job on a cell that can no longer deliver the instantaneous current the acquisition sequence demands. A fresh cell at or above 3.7V resting voltage will clear this.

Charger refusing to accept the pack after weeks of storage

Li-ion cells stored partially discharged will self-discharge below the charger's acceptance threshold — typically around 2.5V — over several weeks. When the charger sees a cell voltage that low, it reads the pack as faulty and refuses to initiate a charge cycle. Some chargers have a recovery or trickle mode; activate it, or apply a brief charge via a compatible USB power bank directly to the phone to nudge the cell above 2.9V. Once the cell clears that threshold, a standard charger will accept it normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Thuraya XT Dual locks on to a satellite fine but drains much faster than it used to — what's happening?

Extended satellite search draws the radio at near-maximum power the entire time it hunts for a signal. In areas with marginal satellite geometry, that search window stretches and the sustained high-power draw eats through capacity far faster than a call does. A degraded cell with reduced usable capacity makes this worse quickly. Check the resting voltage after a full charge — a cell that settles below 4.1V within a few hours of coming off charge has lost significant capacity and needs replacing.

The Thuraya XT shuts down mid-call in cold weather even with a charged battery — is that normal?

It's a known Li-ion behaviour, not a phone fault. Cold temperatures reduce the cell's ability to sustain the continuous high transmit current a satellite voice call demands — the voltage sags under load until the BMS cuts power to protect the cell. The battery may show full charge at room temperature and still fail under transmit load at -10°C or below. Warm the battery to above 10°C before placing calls in freezing conditions; that alone will stop most mid-call shutdowns.

The battery charges to full but the Thuraya XT Dual won't power on — where do I start?

A cell that reads full voltage at the terminals but won't power the handset usually has a BMS that tripped and latched off during a previous deep discharge or over-current event. Pull the battery, leave it out for 60 seconds, then reseat it firmly — this resets the BMS latch on most Thuraya packs. If the phone still won't boot, measure the battery terminal voltage directly; a reading below 3.0V means the cell discharged too far for a standard BMS reset and the pack needs replacing.
