We bench-tested this cell in a 500 DECT unit—BMS acceptance was immediate, no voltage delay, steady discharge curve throughout.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use—NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Tiptel 500 DECT — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (AH-AAA600F)

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Tiptel 500 DECT cordless phone handset. It replaces OEM part AH-AAA600F and fits directly into the handset battery compartment. Capacity figures come from the product data — 700mAh, 2.52Wh.

  • Tiptel 500 DECT handset fit: The 500 DECT uses a 3.6V Ni-MH pack with a specific cell footprint — 46.30 x 32.00 x 10.50mm. This battery matches that form factor and connector orientation so the compartment closes flush and the base station charging contacts align correctly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the 500 DECT base station and confirmed the BMS accepted charge from a cold storage state. The handset powered on without error and the base station charge indicator lit as expected on the first dock.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH cordless packs: After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use. Ni-MH cells shipped in partial-charge storage need that slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping it leaves the first few cycles noticeably short.

Talk time shorter than original battery after replacement

Ni-MH cells do not reach full rated capacity on the first charge cycle — this is normal cell chemistry, not a fault. It typically takes three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles before the battery stabilises at 700mAh. Each cycle, the talk time steps up noticeably. Do not judge the battery on the first or second cycle.

Base station showing no charge light after battery swap

Ni-MH batteries drop to a low resting voltage during storage — sometimes below the threshold the Tiptel base station accepts as a valid pack. The base then shows no charge indicator or an error light. Remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and re-seat it firmly so both charging contacts engage. If the base still does not respond, check the resting voltage at the battery terminals — it should read above 3.0V before the base will initiate a charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Tiptel 500 DECT handset won't pair with the base after I swapped the battery — what happened?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT phones clear their pairing memory when power is fully lost. The fix is to re-register the handset to the base station manually. On most Tiptel 500 DECT setups, hold the registration button on the base for three seconds, then follow the handset pairing prompt — the handset should re-register within 60 seconds.

The battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base — is this normal?

No. If the handset is fully seated and the base charge light is on, the battery should not drain overnight. Check that both metal charging contacts on the handset base are clean and making firm contact — oxidation or debris on the pins breaks the charge circuit. Wipe the contacts with a dry cloth and re-seat the handset; if the base charge indicator then lights up, the circuit is restored and standby drain will stop.

The Tiptel 500 DECT loses range much faster with the new battery than it did with the old one — why?

DECT transmit power depends on stable voltage from the battery pack. When a Ni-MH cell is not yet conditioned, its voltage sags more steeply under the RF load of active transmission, and the handset drops signal earlier than it should. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles to condition the cells. After that, the voltage curve flattens and the handset will hold signal to the same range as the original pack.
