Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TJ Technolo TekBook 822 — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (DR202)

This is a 10.8V, 6600mAh (71.28Wh) Li-ion battery for the TJ Technolo TekBook 822 notebook. It replaces OEM part numbers DR202, EMC36, ME202BB, NL2020, and SMP02. If your original cell is failing to hold a charge or the laptop won't run untethered, this is the direct swap.

  • TekBook 822 fitment: All five OEM part numbers above share the same connector pinout, voltage rail, and BMS handshake protocol on the TekBook 822 platform. Any of those original cells can be swapped with this unit without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the TekBook 822 platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the system, reported state-of-charge without error flags, and held voltage through a sustained CPU and display load cycle.
  • First-cycle calibration on the TekBook 822: After installing, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle. Skipping this step is the single most common cause of the inaccurate health warning that appears after a cell swap on this model.

TekBook 822 shutting down at 20–30% charge shown

This shutdown pattern points to a voltage cliff in the old cell, not the replacement. When a degraded Li-ion cell can no longer sustain voltage under combined CPU and display load, the system cuts power before the fuel gauge reaches zero. A new cell at 6600mAh has the headroom to sustain that load. After one full calibration cycle, the BIOS learn data updates and the early shutdowns stop.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor or unknown after swap

The BIOS reads health data from EEPROM on the battery controller, not from live voltage. After a cell swap, the EEPROM still carries cycle count and degradation data from the old unit, so the system flags the new cell as worn. Run the TekBook 822 down to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After one or two full learn cycles, the BIOS recalibrates against the new cell's actual data and clears the warning. If the flag persists past three cycles, check BIOS firmware version against TJ Technolo's current release.

Frequently Asked Questions

My TekBook 822 fuel gauge is jumping around — showing 60%, then 80%, then 45% within minutes. Is the new battery faulty?

The fuel gauge IC calibrates against charge and discharge history stored in EEPROM. After a cell swap, that stored data no longer matches the new cell's actual chemistry, so readings are erratic for the first few cycles. Run two or three full discharge-to-hibernate-cutoff and uninterrupted charge-to-100% cycles. The fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell's real capacity curve and readings stabilise.

The TekBook 822 system information panel is showing the wrong Wh rating — lower than the 71.28Wh spec on this battery.

System info reads the Wh value from the battery controller's EEPROM, which is set to the rated value of the original cell and does not update automatically on swap. This is an EEPROM data mismatch, not a capacity fault in the replacement cell. The actual usable energy in the cell is correct at 71.28Wh. After the BIOS completes a full learn cycle — one complete discharge to hibernate-cutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% — the displayed value will align with the installed cell.

The new battery stopped charging at 80% and won't go higher, even after hours on the charger.

This is a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a fault in the replacement cell. Some TekBook 822 firmware builds activate an 80% charge ceiling to reduce long-term cell stress when the laptop is left plugged in continuously. Check the power management settings in the BIOS or the TJ Technolo system utility — look for a battery care or charge limit toggle. Disabling that setting restores charging to 100%.
