Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Topcom BabyViewer 2500 / Babyviewer 4500 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 1050mAh Li-ion battery replaces the rechargeable cell in the parent unit of the Topcom BabyViewer 2500 and Babyviewer 4500 audio baby monitors. It restores power to the handheld parent unit when the original cell no longer holds a charge. Dimensions are 52 × 32 × 5mm — confirm these against your existing cell before ordering.

  • BabyViewer 2500 and 4500 compatibility: Both models use the same parent unit hardware platform, sharing identical battery dimensions, connector type, and 3.7V supply rail — one cell covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench. The protection circuit triggered correctly at low-voltage cutoff and accepted a full charge without flagging errors on the parent unit.
  • Wireless re-pair after swap: When the parent unit loses power completely, it drops its wireless link to the nursery unit. After fitting this battery, charge the parent unit before attempting to re-pair — a low starting voltage can cause the radio module to time out during the pairing handshake.

Parent unit battery draining overnight during monitoring

Running the parent unit through the night with the screen active is a sustained draw that taxes any 1050mAh cell. The display backlight and the 2.4GHz radio both pull current continuously when the screen stays on. Enable the screen timeout function in the parent unit menu — the radio stays active to receive alerts, but the display draw drops to near zero. This alone significantly extends the charge between top-ups.

Reduced wireless range immediately after fitting a new battery

The 2.4GHz radio module in the BabyViewer parent unit is voltage-sensitive. At a low state of charge — typically below 3.5V — the radio operates at reduced transmit power, which cuts effective range noticeably. This is not a faulty battery or a pairing fault. Charge the parent unit fully to 4.2V before the first use and test range again — most users see the issue resolve completely.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BabyViewer parent unit won't connect to the nursery unit after I fitted the new battery — what do I do?

A full power interruption clears the wireless link stored in the parent unit's memory, so the two units need to re-pair from scratch. Start with the parent unit charged — a low cell voltage causes the radio module to time out before pairing completes. Hold both units within one metre of each other during the pairing sequence, then follow the re-pair steps in the BabyViewer manual (usually a simultaneous button hold on both units). Once paired at close range, move the nursery unit back to its normal position and test.

The night vision on my BabyViewer camera unit stopped working after I replaced the parent unit battery — is the battery the cause?

The camera unit's IR LEDs run from their own power source, so a parent unit battery swap doesn't directly affect them. What often happens is the re-pair process after a battery change leaves the parent unit in a default display mode that has IR-assist turned off. Go into the parent unit's video settings menu and confirm the night vision mode is enabled. If the IR LEDs still don't activate, check that the nursery unit is plugged in and the camera lens cover is fully open.

The parent unit shows a low battery warning almost immediately after I charge it — is the new cell faulty?

This usually happens when the first charge cycle is cut short. Li-ion cells need a complete initial charge to calibrate the parent unit's fuel gauge circuit — charge to 4.2V (the indicator shows full) before the first use. If the warning persists after a full charge, drain the parent unit down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to full again. A single full discharge-and-recharge cycle resets the gauge in most BabyViewer parent units.
