Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Toshiba Satellite L700D — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PA3817U-1BAS)
This 10.8V, 4400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original PA3817U-1BAS and PA3817U-1BRS cells in the Toshiba Satellite L700D and L700 series notebooks. It restores portable power to a laptop that no longer holds charge or fails to run off-mains. Capacity is 47.52Wh, matching the stock specification for this platform.
- Satellite L700 / L700D platform fit: These models share the same 10.8V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol across the series. One cell covers L700, L700D, L700-T10R, L700-T11B, and over 300 additional Satellite variants that draw from the same power rail.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on the L700 platform and confirmed the BMS negotiated correctly with the BIOS, accepted a full charge cycle without thermal event, and reported state-of-charge accurately after two calibration passes.
- Post-install calibration on L700D: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge down to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting the new cell
Toshiba's BIOS reads health data stored in the battery's EEPROM and compares it against historical charge data from the old cell. When a new cell arrives, that EEPROM data does not match the BIOS log, so the firmware flags it as degraded. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Run a full discharge-to-hibernate then an uninterrupted charge to 100% and the BIOS will re-learn the cell's actual capacity. After one complete learn cycle, the health indicator clears on most L700 series units.
Laptop shuts off abruptly at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's voltage curve. The OS reads remaining charge from a table built on the old cell's behaviour, so it underestimates how fast voltage drops under combined CPU and display load. When actual cell voltage hits the hardware cutoff threshold, the laptop powers off even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by full charges to let the fuel gauge IC rebuild its estimate — the shutoff point will move back toward 0% once calibration completes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does Windows show the battery as "0% available (plugged in)" right after installing this replacement?
The fuel gauge IC is reading EEPROM data from the old cell and has not yet mapped the new cell's voltage curve. Windows reports 0% because the state-of-charge register has not updated. Plug the laptop in, let it charge uninterrupted to 100%, then run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff. After that cycle the gauge IC recalibrates and the percentage reads correctly.
My Satellite L700D shows the new battery's capacity as lower than 47.52Wh in the system info — is the cell underspec?
No. The Wh figure shown in system info is pulled from the EEPROM rating field, which carries the old cell's stored value until the BIOS completes a learn cycle. The actual chemistry matches the 47.52Wh spec. Run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff followed by a full uninterrupted charge and the BIOS will overwrite the EEPROM figure with data measured from the new cell.
Charge stops at around 80% and won't go higher — is the battery faulty?
Not necessarily. The Toshiba BIOS on L700 series laptops includes a charge limit setting that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell stress during long mains-connected use. Check Toshiba Power Saver or the BIOS power settings under "Battery Charge Mode" — switch it from "ECO Charge" to "Full Charge" and the battery will charge to 100%.
