Fits Toshiba Tecra S1 laptop; replaces PA3248, PA3248U-1BAS, PA3248U-1BRS, PA3257, PA3257U-1BAS, PA3257U-1BRS.
10.8V and 6600mAh capacity delivers 71.28Wh for full workday use on this business notebook.
Connector slides onto the Tecra S1 battery slot with a single latching tab; orientation is keyed.
We bench-tested this cell on a Tecra S1 load simulator; BMS delivered clean voltage curve under sustained CPU load with no early cutoff.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernation, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Toshiba Tecra S1 — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PA3248)

This is a 10.8V, 6600mAh Li-ion battery for the Toshiba Tecra S1 business notebook. It replaces OEM part numbers PA3248, PA3248U-1BAS, PA3248U-1BRS, PA3257, PA3257U-1BRS, and PA3257U-1BAS. Dimensions are 144.20 x 90.10 x 20.20mm — verify fitment against your existing cell before ordering.

  • Tecra S1 battery bay fitment: Toshiba used the PA3248 and PA3257 part numbers across the same Tecra S1 chassis generation. Both share the same connector pinout, voltage rail, and BMS handshake protocol — this cell covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and load on the Tecra S1 platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the system board, accepted a full charge, and held voltage under sustained CPU and display load without tripping a protective cutoff.
  • First-cycle calibration on the Tecra S1: After fitting, run the battery down until the laptop hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the Tecra S1 BIOS to complete its battery learn cycle and clears the false "poor health" warning that appears after any cell swap.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor after replacement

The Tecra S1 BIOS stores learned capacity data from the previous cell in its EEPROM. When a new cell is fitted, that stored data no longer matches, so the system flags the battery as degraded or unhealthy. This is a firmware state, not a fault with the new cell. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% — the BIOS recalculates and overwrites the old health record.

Tecra S1 shutting down at 20–30% charge remaining

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual charge curve. The gauge reports 20–30% remaining, but the cell has already hit its voltage cliff under combined CPU and display load, so the system shuts down to protect the hardware. It is not a faulty battery — it is an uncalibrated gauge. Complete two or three full discharge-to-hibernate then full-charge cycles to bring the fuel gauge into alignment with the new cell's true capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Tecra S1 BIOS shows the wrong Wh rating after I fitted the new battery — is something wrong with the cell?

No. The Wh figure the BIOS displays is pulled from the EEPROM on the battery PCB, which stores the rated chemistry value at the time of manufacture. The actual delivered capacity of a new cell often differs slightly from that rated figure, so the number in BIOS and the real-world capacity diverge. This is a data mismatch between EEPROM and chemistry — not a defect. Run two full calibration cycles and the system will stabilise its readings.

My Tecra S1 charges the new battery up to about 80% and then stops — will it ever reach 100%?

Some Toshiba BIOS versions ship with a charge-limit mode active, which caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. This is a firmware setting, not a battery fault. Go into the Toshiba Power Management utility or BIOS power settings and check for an "Eco Charge" or battery care mode — disable it. After disabling, the next charge cycle will run to 100%.

Windows is showing the battery as "0%" or "plugged in, not charging" immediately after fitting — what do I do?

This usually means the fuel gauge IC has not yet received enough data to initialise against the new cell. The OS reads 0% because the gauge has no calibration reference yet. Remove the AC adapter, let the laptop run on battery until it hibernates, then reconnect and charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that first full cycle, the gauge initialises correctly and Windows reports an accurate state of charge.
