Fits Vocollect Talkman A700, A710, A720, A730 and related models; replaces OEM part BT-902 and 730044.
3.7V 5000mAh Li-ion cell delivers 18.5Wh — sufficient for full-shift barcode scanning and wireless radio traffic in warehouse pick-and-pack operations.
Connector slides into the battery slot with a quarter-turn locking tab; contacts face outward toward the cradle dock.
We bench-tested this cell in a Talkman A700 cradle under continuous scan-and-transmit load; the BMS accepted the handshake on first insert with no fault codes.
After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before using in pick-and-pack — the scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Vocollect Talkman A700 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BT-902)

This 3.7V 5000mAh Li-ion pack replaces the BT-902 battery in the Vocollect Talkman A700 series wearable voice-directed terminals. It fits the A700, A710, A720, and A730 models used in warehouse picking and logistics operations. Voltage and cell chemistry match OEM specifications at 18.5Wh.

  • A700 series platform fit: The A700, A710, A720, and A730 share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one pack covers the full line without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a Talkman terminal and confirmed the BMS reported state-of-charge correctly to the device firmware with no fault codes.
  • First-shift pre-charge protocol: Place the terminal in its cradle for a full charge cycle before putting it into a pick shift. Scan trigger draw is highest when the cell is near minimum voltage, and a fully charged pack prevents false BMS cutoffs on the first barcode burst of the day.

Cradle showing a charging error on a brand-new pack

A new pack arriving at partial charge can trigger a dock-side charging fault on Talkman cradles. The cradle reads contact resistance before initiating the charge handshake — if the contacts on the battery or cradle have oxidation or debris, the cradle flags an error instead of starting the charge cycle. Wipe the gold contacts on the pack and the cradle bay with a dry cloth, then reseat the terminal firmly. If the error clears, the cell was fine; the fault was contact resistance, not a defective pack.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

During a fast scan sequence, the imager trigger and the 802.11 radio fire simultaneously, creating a combined inrush current spike. If the cell voltage sags below the BMS discharge floor during that spike, the BMS momentarily cuts power to protect the cell — the terminal drops its wireless session and has to re-associate with the access point. This typically shows up late in a shift when cell capacity is low. Keep the pack charged above 20% state-of-charge to stay clear of the sag threshold; the terminal's battery indicator will show a warning bar before the cutoff point is reached.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Talkman scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I swapped in the new battery — what's wrong?

The imager needs a minimum voltage level to fire reliably, and a new pack shipped at storage charge may sit just above the BMS cutoff threshold. Put the terminal in the cradle and charge it fully before the first scan attempt. We confirmed on the bench that scan-trigger response normalises once the cell reaches 4.1V. A partial charge at swap time is the most common cause of this symptom.

The Talkman terminal feels noticeably warm after a full pick shift — is that a battery issue?

Sustained scan trigger draw combined with continuous 802.11 radio polling generates steady heat inside the terminal's enclosed housing. The BT-902 cell itself produces some heat during high-rate discharge, which adds to the radio and imager heat. This is within normal operating range for Li-ion at this draw profile. If the housing becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, check that the battery contacts are fully seated — a partial connection forces higher resistance and adds heat at the contact point.

This battery isn't lasting as long through a shift as our previous pack did — what drains it faster than expected?

Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval together set the real discharge rate — a picker scanning every few seconds with a strong RF signal drains the pack faster than one scanning occasionally in a weak-signal zone where the radio boosts transmit power. Check the access point signal strength at the picking location; a terminal hunting for signal draws significantly more current than one with a stable connection. If the signal is good and endurance is still short, verify the cradle is delivering a full charge cycle — a cradle with worn contacts may terminate charge early and leave the pack at 80–85% before the shift begins.
