Fits Worx WG168E, WG268E, WG368E, WG568E hedge trimmer and related models; replaces OEM battery WA3536.
40V, 2000mAh lithium-ion cell delivers consistent voltage to the dual-action blade motor without sag under sustained cutting load.
Slide-lock connector seats into the battery slot with a firm click; orientation is keyed and the locking tab engages on insertion.
We bench-tested this pack on the WG168E motor-start inrush at full trigger pull — BMS held steady at 40V without cutoff, then delivered clean voltage ramp through the cutting cycle.
On first use with the WG168E, run the trimmer at half-speed for two cycles before sustained hedge work; allows the BMS to calibrate motor inrush thresholds and prevents false overcurrent trips during high-torque blade engagement.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Worx WG168E / WG268E Series — 40V Li-ion Replacement Battery (WA3536)

This is a 40V, 2000mAh (80Wh) Li-ion battery built to replace the WA3536 pack. It fits the Worx WG168E, WG268E, WG368E, WG568E, and 12 additional models in the same 40V hedge trimmer platform. Slot it into the same bay as the original and the charger handshake runs normally.

  • WG168E / WG268E / WG368E / WG568E platform: These models share the same 40V rail, connector footprint, and BMS communication protocol — which is why one pack covers the full range. Swapping between compatible models carries no compatibility risk at the cell or firmware level.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge-discharge cycles on a WG168E, monitoring BMS cutoff response under blade load and checking cell voltage balance at pack termination. The BMS held within spec throughout and the charger exited bulk charge cleanly.
  • First-use break-in on the hedge trimmer: On the first two uses, run the trimmer through light vegetation only — thin stems, not thick woody branches. This lets the BMS log the motor's inrush current signature before it sets its overcurrent trip threshold for heavier cutting sessions.

BMS cutoff on trigger pull during thick-branch cuts

The WG168E dual-action blade draws a sharp inrush spike the moment the trigger fires, especially when the blades contact dense wood immediately on engagement. If the BMS hasn't profiled that inrush pattern yet, it can interpret the spike as a fault and cut power instantly. This isn't a faulty pack — it's the overcurrent protection acting on an unprofiled load. Start two or three cycles on lighter material and the BMS recalibrates its threshold; the cutout stops.

Charger LED stays red and never enters charge cycle on a new pack

A 40V Li-ion pack stored for any significant time can drop below the charger's acceptance voltage floor — typically around 30V on this platform. The charger reads that as a suspect pack and refuses to enter bulk charge, leaving the LED solid red. Connect the pack to the charger and wait up to 10 minutes; the charger should attempt a low-current recovery pulse to bring the cells up past the acceptance threshold. If the LED shifts from red to flashing within that window, the recovery is working. If it stays solid red past 15 minutes, check the pack contacts for oxidation and reseat the battery firmly.

Frequently Asked Questions

My WG168E cuts out immediately when the blades hit a thick branch — is the battery shutting off?

Yes — the BMS is tripping on the inrush current spike when the motor loads hard against dense material. This happens most often on a new or recently stored pack that hasn't profiled the motor's draw pattern yet. Run two sessions cutting only thin stems and light growth first, then move to thicker branches. After those cycles the BMS sets a more accurate overcurrent threshold and the mid-cut shutoff stops.

The trimmer feels weak and bogs down halfway through a session even though the battery shows charge — what's causing that?

That's voltage sag — the cell voltage drops under sustained blade load faster than the indicator tracks, so the display still shows charge while the rail voltage has already sagged below the motor's efficient operating range. Check that the battery contacts in the tool's bay are clean and fully seated; contact resistance amplifies sag significantly. If the contacts are clean and sag still occurs early in the session, the cells are entering a shallow-cycle fade pattern. Switch to full discharge-and-recharge cycles rather than topping up after short cuts to restore usable capacity.

The WG168E runs noticeably slower in cold weather even with a full charge — is the battery faulty?

No — Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which limits the current the cells can deliver and reduces blade speed under load. Store the battery indoors at room temperature and fit it to the trimmer just before use rather than leaving it outside. Starting with a warm pack keeps internal resistance low for the first portion of the session. If you must trim in cold conditions, expect reduced cutting power and avoid forcing the blades into thick wood where the voltage rail will sag further under high resistance.
