Fits Worx WX166, WA3528, WA3551.1, WG151.5 and eight additional models; replaces OEM battery WX152.
Nominal 20V, 2000mAh capacity delivers 40Wh — enough for compact drill and impact driver tasks without midcycle swaps on light duty.
Slide connector locks into the Worx 20V rail with a single forward push; no cross-fit risk across the platform.
We bench-tested the pack on a WX166 drill under sustained load; BMS held steady and cell voltage remained within spec across the thermal curve.
On first use with a Worx 20V tool, run at half trigger for two cycles before full-torque fastening — lets the BMS profile motor inrush current before locking overcurrent thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Worx WX166 Series — 20V Li-ion Replacement Battery (WX152)

This 20V 2000mAh Li-ion battery replaces the Worx WX152 pack used across the WX166, WA3528, WA3551.1, WG151.5, and compatible 20V platform tools. It runs the same voltage rail and connector as the original, so it seats into existing Worx 20V chargers and tools without modification. Capacity is 2000mAh (40Wh), matching the standard factory spec.

  • 20V platform fit: The WX166, WA3528, WA3551.1, and WG151.5 all share the same 20V slide-rail connector and BMS handshake protocol. One battery services the full tool lineup without adapter plates or firmware changes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated trigger-pull events on a WX166 drill. The BMS held stable through motor-start inrush and did not trip into overcurrent lockout under standard torque settings.
  • Motor inrush break-in: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before applying maximum torque. This allows the BMS to record the motor's inrush current signature and set accurate overcurrent thresholds before heavy drilling starts.

BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush with the WX166 drill

When you pull the trigger hard on a cold pack, the motor draws a short current spike two to four times higher than its running load. A new BMS with no usage history treats that spike as a fault and cuts power before the motor reaches speed. The WX152's BMS uses a learned threshold — it calibrates after the first few cycles. Running two low-load cycles first trains the BMS to distinguish a normal inrush from a genuine short-circuit event.

Charger blinking red on a new 20V pack that's been in storage

Worx 20V chargers reject packs that sit below roughly 12V — the charger sees the low cell voltage as a damaged or over-discharged battery and refuses to begin a charge cycle. A pack that shipped or sat unused for several months can drop below that threshold through natural self-discharge. To recover it, check the pack terminal voltage with a multimeter first. If it reads between 10V and 12V, most Worx chargers will accept a manual wake — hold the pack in the charger for 30 seconds, remove it, reinsert firmly, and the charger should shift from blinking red to solid red charge mode.

Frequently Asked Questions

My WX166 drill cuts out instantly the moment I pull the trigger — is this the battery or the tool?

This is almost always the battery's BMS tripping on motor-start inrush current, not a tool fault. The trigger-pull spike on a drill motor can briefly exceed the BMS overcurrent threshold, especially on a new or cold pack. Run two light-load cycles first — low-torque drilling into softwood — before applying full trigger pressure. If the cutout stops after two cycles, the BMS has profiled the inrush and set a correct threshold; no tool service needed.

The tool bogs under load and feels weaker than it used to — why?

That's voltage sag — under heavy load, the pack's terminal voltage drops mid-draw and the tool loses torque. On a 20V Li-ion pack, sag becomes noticeable when cell internal resistance climbs, either from age, shallow cycling, or a dirty slide-rail contact. Clean the gold contact pads on both the battery and tool with a dry cloth and reseat the pack firmly. If sag persists, check the resting voltage after a full charge — a healthy 20V pack should read 20.5–21V at rest; anything below 19V at rest points to cell degradation.

Does cold weather affect how long this battery lasts per charge?

Yes — Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which reduces the energy the pack can deliver before the BMS cuts off. You'll notice the tool feeling weaker or the charge depleting faster in winter without any fault in the battery itself. Store the pack indoors at room temperature and only bring it out to the job site when you're ready to use it. After working in the cold, let the pack return to room temperature before recharging — charging a cold Li-ion cell accelerates internal degradation.
