Fits Zebra P4T, RP4T, and RP4 portable printers; replaces OEM part CT18499-1, H16293-Li, HBP-420L, and ZB42L1-D.
7.4V, 6800mAh capacity delivers stable voltage across full thermal head temperature range during extended field printing shifts.
Connector slots vertically into battery bay with positive contact at top; locking tab secures pack flush against printer body.
We bench tested this cell on P4T paper feed and thermal head draw—BMS held steady output through 80% discharge before cutoff.
After installing, charge fully and print five test receipts before field deployment; thermal head requires calibration print sequence to confirm stable BMS current profile.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zebra P4T / RP4T Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CT18499-1)

This 7.4V, 6800mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the Zebra P4T, RP4T, and RP4 mobile printers. These portable thermal printers run on-demand label and receipt jobs in logistics, retail, and field operations — far from fixed power. The cell and BMS in this pack match the current draw profile of the print head and paper feed motor in that printer family.

  • P4T, RP4T, and RP4 compatibility: All three models share the same 7.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. A single cell design covers the full platform — no adapter or firmware change needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on a P4T unit and cycled through continuous label print jobs. The BMS held steady through thermal head warm-up surges and paper feed motor start draws without triggering a low-voltage cutoff.
  • First-deploy print sequence: After installing this battery, charge it fully, then print five test labels before putting the unit into service. The P4T's BMS uses early current draw data from the paper feed motor to calibrate its discharge curve — skipping this step can cause premature low-battery warnings during the first shift.

Bluetooth dropout mid-print job on the P4T and RP4T

The P4T runs its Bluetooth radio and thermal print head from the same 7.4V supply. When battery charge drops below roughly 6.8V under load, the radio draws enough current to cause a momentary voltage sag. The printer's BMS interprets this sag as a fault condition and can suspend the radio to protect the print head. A battery with degraded cells will hit this threshold much earlier in the shift than a fresh pack will.

Faded or uneven print output after swapping the battery

The thermal print head requires a stable voltage supply to maintain consistent head temperature across the full print width. If the replacement battery has a weak cell or a mismatched BMS profile, the head temperature varies line by line, producing faded bands or uneven darkness across the label. Check that the battery is fully charged before diagnosing the head itself. If print quality normalises above 7.2V on a volt meter, the issue is the battery, not the head.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Zebra P4T sat in a storage cabinet for three months and now won't print — is the battery the problem?

Most likely yes. Li-ion cells in the P4T battery self-discharge during storage, and if the pack drops below the printer's minimum motor-drive voltage (around 6.5V), the paper feed motor won't generate enough torque to pull media through. Plug the battery in for a full charge before concluding the printer is faulty. If the charge indicator cycles on and off without completing, the cell has dropped too deep for the charger to recover it and the pack needs replacing.

The paper feed on my RP4T is jamming every few prints — could this be a battery issue?

Yes — feed motor torque drops as battery voltage sags under load. The RP4T's feed mechanism needs consistent voltage to maintain the grip pressure that pulls labels through the platen. At lower charge states, the motor stalls mid-feed and the media bunches. Test by running the same media on a fully charged battery; if the jams stop, the battery is the cause, not the paper path or platen roller. Keep the pack above 7.0V during heavy print runs to avoid this.

Why does my P4T show a low-battery warning almost immediately after a fresh charge?

This happens when the BMS has lost its calibration — usually after deep discharge or a long storage period. The BMS uses historical charge and discharge data to estimate remaining capacity, and stale data causes it to report depletion far too early. Run the battery down fully on a light print job, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% in one cycle. After one full discharge-and-recharge cycle, the BMS recalibrates its capacity estimate and the low-battery warnings return to the correct threshold.
