Fits 2GIG GC3 Panel, SP1-GC3, and GC3e Panel; replaces OEM part numbers 823990 and 10-000014-001.
3.7V 3800mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers 14.06Wh; powers the panel's processor and wireless communication module continuously.
Connector type is proprietary 2GIG contact; seat the cell firmly until the locking tab clicks into the housing slot.
We ran charge cycles on the GC3 platform; the BMS accepted full float voltage within eight hours with no cutoff faults.
Do not run a zone test or alarm siren check until 24 to 48 hours after installation — the panel's backup circuit needs full float charge to report accurate battery status during diagnostics.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

2GIG GC3 Panel Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (823990)

This 3.7V 3800mAh Li-Polymer cell is the direct replacement backup battery for the 2GIG GC3 Panel, GC3e Panel, and SP1-GC3 control panels. It slots into the panel's battery bay and maintains alarm processor and communication functions when AC power drops. OEM part numbers 823990 and 10-000014-001 both reference this cell.

  • GC3 and GC3e platform fit: The GC3, GC3e, and SP1-GC3 all share the same battery bay footprint, connector polarity, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers all three. The 89.10 × 37.50 × 8.00mm form factor matches the original housing without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle on a GC3 panel. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, held float charge correctly, and passed the panel's internal battery health check after a 48-hour conditioning period.
  • Post-install zone testing: Do not run a diagnostic zone test immediately after fitting this cell. The panel needs 24–48 hours at float charge before its battery monitor reports an accurate state of charge. Running a test early will trigger a false low-battery alert even on a fully functional cell.

Why the GC3 panel reports low battery hours after a fresh cell install

The GC3's onboard battery monitor does not read voltage directly — it tracks charge acceptance over time. A new cell at rest voltage (around 3.6–3.7V) has not yet completed a supervised charge cycle, so the panel flags it as low. This is a BMS reporting behaviour, not a fault with the cell. Leave the panel on AC power for 24–48 hours and the low-battery event will clear automatically once the supervisor confirms a full charge cycle.

Panel loses saved programming during a power outage after battery swap

If the panel drops programming during an outage shortly after a battery replacement, the new cell has not yet been accepted into the backup circuit. The GC3 requires the battery to complete a conditioning period on AC before it will draw from it under load. A cell pulled from storage at partial charge can read fine on a meter but still fail to sustain the panel during a switchover. Restore AC power, allow 48 hours of float charging, then simulate a brief outage — the panel should hold configuration at 3.5V or above.

Frequently Asked Questions

My 2GIG GC3 panel showed low battery within an hour of me fitting the new cell — did I get a bad battery?

Almost certainly not. The GC3's battery supervisor does not confirm a full charge state until the cell has been on float charge for 24–48 hours. A new Li-Polymer cell arriving at partial storage charge will trigger the low-battery alert even if the cell itself is fine. Leave the panel on AC power for two full days and the alert will clear once the supervised charge cycle completes.

The siren didn't sound during my weekly test right after I replaced the backup battery — is something wrong with the new cell?

The GC3 panel imposes a short charge-stabilisation window after a new battery is fitted, during which siren output is suppressed to prevent triggering on an unstable supply. This typically clears within 30–60 seconds of the panel settling, but running a full siren test within the first few minutes of installation can produce a silent result. Wait at least two minutes after the panel boots with the new cell seated, then re-run the test.

The GC3 panel shows a tamper fault right after I swapped the backup battery — what's causing it?

A tamper fault after a battery swap almost always means the panel enclosure lid or the battery compartment cover is not fully seated. The GC3 monitors its cover contact switch continuously, and even a slight misalignment will throw a tamper alert. Open the enclosure, reseat the battery, press the cover firmly until the latch clicks, then check the panel — the tamper fault should clear within 30 seconds of the contact closing properly.
