Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ACTIVEON LX / DX Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AA01A)

This is a 3.7V, 1300mAh Li-ion cell that replaces the original AA01A battery in ACTIVEON action cameras. It fits the LX, DX, LKA10W-B, and DKA10W-B models. Capacity figure is taken directly from the product specification — 4.81Wh.

  • LX and DX platform compatibility: The LX and DX share the same battery bay dimensions and connector orientation. Both run on the same 3.7V rail with identical BMS handshake requirements, which is why a single cell — AA01A — covers the entire lineup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on ACTIVEON hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, voltage held steady across the discharge curve, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
  • First charge cycle on the LX: Before heavy shooting, run one full charge cycle through the camera body or OEM charger. The ACTIVEON BMS maps its battery-remaining display against the discharge curve during that first cycle — skipping it can cause the indicator to read inaccurately across the battery's full range.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the LX display

The LX maps its fuel gauge to voltage thresholds calibrated during the BMS initialisation cycle. A new cell has a slightly different discharge curve than a worn original, so the camera's indicator can jump — dropping 20% in seconds, then holding flat. This is a gauge calibration issue, not a faulty cell. Fix it by running one full discharge from 100% to automatic shutdown, then charging uninterrupted back to full — the BMS resets its threshold map at 4.2V on completion.

ACTIVEON LX showing dead battery indicator on a charged replacement cell

Some ACTIVEON bodies flag a new cell as depleted on first install because the BMS reads resting voltage before the cell has equilibrated after shipping. A cell stored for weeks can sit at 3.6–3.7V — technically charged, but below the camera's "good battery" threshold check at power-on. Remove the battery, wait 10 seconds, and reinsert. If the error persists, place the cell in the OEM charger until the charge light cycles green, then reinsert into the camera body.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ACTIVEON LX powers on for a second then shuts off immediately with the new battery installed — what's happening?

This is almost always a voltage sag on the initial power-on draw. A freshly installed replacement cell that hasn't completed a charge cycle can't sustain the brief current spike the camera needs to initialise its processor and sensor. Place the battery in the OEM charger and let it charge to full before inserting it into the camera body. Once the cell reaches 4.2V under a controlled charge, the power-on draw won't pull the voltage below the camera's cutoff threshold.

The shot count on my ACTIVEON DX seems lower than it should be — is the replacement cell underperforming?

Rated shot counts assume minimal accessory load — no continuous video, no LCD-on-record, and no repeated flash cycling. On the DX, keeping the live view display active during recording adds a constant drain that isn't factored into a static shot-count figure. The 1300mAh capacity is correct; the gap between expected and actual shots comes from cumulative display and processor draw. To get the most from each charge, turn off the LCD when recording and let the camera sleep between takes.

After leaving my ACTIVEON LX unused for two months, the new battery won't charge past the blinking light stage — what do I do?

Two months of storage without a top-up charge can drop a Li-ion cell below the minimum threshold the ACTIVEON charger needs to begin a standard charge cycle — typically around 3.0V. At that point the charger's protection circuit blinks rather than charging. If you have access to a third-party Li-ion charger with a "recovery" or "trickle" mode, place the cell there for 15–20 minutes to bring it above 3.0V, then transfer it to the OEM charger. If the OEM charger is the only option, try reinserting the battery every 5 minutes — some units will initiate a trickle charge on repeated reconnection.
