Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Archos A55 Helium / Helium+ — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AC55HEP)
This 3.7V, 2300mAh (8.51Wh) lithium-ion battery replaces the original AC55HEP cell in the Archos A55 Helium and Helium+. It fits directly in either model — both share the same battery bay, connector, and BMS handshake. Use this when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge or fails to power the device through normal daily tasks.
- A55 Helium and Helium+ compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V battery rail with an identical connector and BMS communication protocol. One cell fits both. No hardware modification needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full discharge-charge sequence and confirmed the BMS handshake completes correctly. Charge acceptance was stable across the full 3.7V nominal range with no cutoff anomalies at the top or bottom of the curve.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard current. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes load into an uncalibrated coulomb counter.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the A55 Helium after a cell swap
The A55 Helium's fuel gauge IC holds the discharge curve of the old cell in memory. When a new cell is installed, the IC applies the old curve to the new cell — which has a different internal resistance profile. Under modem or screen load, the phone's voltage rail sags below the IC's shutdown threshold before the reported percentage reaches zero. This is not a faulty cell. One full discharge-charge cycle without fast charging resets the coulomb counter and maps the new curve. After that cycle, shutdowns at elevated percentages stop.
USB fast charge not activating on the first cycle after replacement
After a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes declines the fast-charge handshake on the first cycle because it reads the new cell's higher impedance as an out-of-spec condition. The A55 Helium's charge controller defaults to standard 5V/1A input until it completes one full cycle and confirms the cell is behaving within expected parameters. Run a full charge at standard current first. On the next charge cycle, fast charging should negotiate normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Archos A55 Helium shuts off at around 25% after I put in the new battery — is the cell dead already?
No — the fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve from the old cell. When modem or display load pulls current, voltage sags past the shutdown threshold before the percentage hits zero. Run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard current without fast charging. That resets the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual curve, and the premature shutdowns stop.
The A55 Helium won't power on after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I installed it — what happened?
If the cell discharged below approximately 2.5V during storage, the BMS enters lockout to prevent damage to the cell. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until it clears the BMS threshold. Once voltage recovers above 3.0V, the phone boots normally.
The battery percentage on my A55 Helium jumps erratically — goes from 60% to 80% and back — right after swapping the cell.
This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating. It lost its reference data when the old cell was removed and is now estimating state-of-charge against an unmapped cell. The jumping settles after one full uninterrupted discharge down to auto-shutdown, followed by a full charge to 100%. Keep the screen on during the discharge to maintain a consistent load, and do not top up partway through — let the cycle complete fully.
