A new cell that shuts the phone off at 20–30% reported charge is almost always a fuel gauge calibration issue, not a faulty battery. The coulomb counter in the phone was calibrated against the old cell's discharge curve. When the new cell's voltage drops under modem or screen load, the phone hits its cutoff threshold before the gauge catches up. Run one full discharge to 0% and a full charge to 100% without interruption. After that cycle the gauge re-anchors to the new cell and the shutdowns stop.
Phone reports wrong battery percentage after cell swap
The Amazing X3s tracks charge state through a fuel gauge IC that builds a model of the cell over time. Swapping the cell breaks that model — the IC is still using data from the old battery. The percentage reading can jump, stall, or read 100% while the phone is actually close to cutoff. One full uninterrupted discharge-charge cycle forces the IC to rebuild its curve against the new cell. After that cycle, percentage readings stabilise at the correct value.

My TWM Amazing X3s won't turn on after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is it dead?
Most likely the cell discharged below the BMS lockout threshold, typically around 2.5V. The protection circuit disconnects the cell at that point to prevent damage, so the phone sees no voltage at all and won't respond to the power button. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. If the BMS recovers, the charge IC will trickle current into the cell until it climbs back above 3.0V and the phone will boot normally.
Fast charging stopped working the first time I charged the new battery — why won't it fast charge?
On the first cycle, the phone's charge IC runs a negotiation handshake with the new cell's BMS to verify it can accept higher current. If the BMS doesn't respond within the expected window — which can happen on a deeply discharged or cold cell — the IC falls back to standard 5V charging as a precaution. Charge the phone fully once at standard rate, then disconnect and reconnect the charger. On the second connection the handshake completes against a fully initialised BMS and fast charging resumes at the correct rate.
The Amazing X3s feels noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges — is something wrong?
A new high-impedance cell generates more heat than a worn cell during the first few charge cycles. The internal resistance of a fresh Li-ion cell is higher before it is conditioned, so the charge IC pushes current through a slightly higher resistance and that energy converts to heat. The warmth should reduce after two or three full cycles as the cell conditions. If the phone stays hot to the touch or the back panel feels hot rather than warm after the third cycle, check that the charge IC is not stuck in fast-charge mode — drop to a standard 5W charger and run one full cycle to rule that out.
