Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AT&T 4058R — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (TLi017C7)

This is a 3.8V, 1750mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the AT&T 4058R smartphone. It replaces OEM part number TLi017C7 and fits the 4058R directly. Use this when the original cell no longer holds voltage under screen or modem load.

  • AT&T 4058R compatibility: The 4058R uses the TLi017C7 form factor — a 60.10 × 46.30 × 5.30mm cell with a 3.8V nominal rail and a matching connector pinout. The BMS handshake on this device authenticates by voltage threshold and connector wiring, not a proprietary chip, so the replacement cell negotiates correctly on first boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the 4058R platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without error flags. Charge termination triggered at the correct cutoff voltage and the fuel gauge IC registered the cell without prompting a calibration warning on boot.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. The fuel gauge IC on the 4058R calibrates its coulomb counter against the cell's actual discharge curve. Running a slow cycle first lets the IC map the new cell accurately before high-current charging begins.

Why the AT&T 4058R reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The 4058R uses a fuel gauge IC that stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the actual cell chemistry, so the percentage readout drifts. The IC needs at least one full discharge-charge cycle to rewrite its internal model. Drain the phone to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — after that cycle the percentage display stabilises.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the AT&T 4058R after replacement

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still running the old cell's voltage curve. The new cell hits a voltage cliff under modem or display load at a point the IC still interprets as 20–30% remaining. The phone's low-voltage protection fires and cuts power before the gauge reaches zero. Run one full slow-charge cycle without fast charging enabled — once the coulomb counter recalibrates to the new cell, the shutdown point drops back to the correct near-zero threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AT&T 4058R won't power on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the battery dead?

It isn't dead, but the BMS has likely locked out below 2.5V per cell due to deep discharge during storage. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell before the BMS will release the lockout and allow a normal boot. If the charging LED doesn't appear within 30 minutes, try a different cable before concluding the cell is faulty.

Fast charging stopped working on the AT&T 4058R after I installed the replacement battery — the phone only charges slowly now.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the 4058R's charge IC sometimes defaults to standard charge rates because the USB-PD or proprietary protocol handshake resets with a new BMS. Complete one full charge to 100% at the slow rate, then disconnect and reconnect the charger — the protocol negotiation reruns and fast charge typically restores on the second session. If it doesn't resume, confirm you're using the original AT&T wall adapter, since third-party chargers can fail the handshake independently of the battery.

The battery percentage on my AT&T 4058R jumps around erratically — it reads 45%, then skips to 60%, then drops back.

Erratic percentage jumps mean the fuel gauge IC's coulomb counter is recalibrating against a cell discharge curve it hasn't mapped yet. This is expected after a cell replacement and is not a fault in the battery itself. Drain the phone fully until it shuts itself down, then charge it in one uninterrupted session to 100% with fast charging disabled. After that single calibration cycle the percentage readout should track steadily.
