Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AudioVox CDM-8915 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTR-8915)

This is a 3.7V, 1600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the AudioVox CDM-8915 mobile phone. It replaces OEM part numbers BTR-8915 and BLI-994-8. Capacity is 5.92Wh — matched to the original cell specification for this handset.

  • CDM-8915 fitment: The CDM8915 uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with a dedicated connector keyed to this form factor. Both listed OEM part numbers share the same voltage rail and physical footprint — this cell fits both variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the cell through charge and discharge cycles on the CDM-8915 platform. The BMS accepted the charge controller handshake on the first cycle, and protection circuitry triggered correctly at low-voltage cutoff — no false trips under call or screen load.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first install, disable any fast-charge mode and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. The phone's fuel gauge IC calibrates its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve — skipping this step causes the percentage readout to drift or jump erratically for the first several days.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the CDM-8915 after a cell swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When the new cell hits a voltage point the old curve didn't map accurately, the OS reads a false zero and cuts power. The phone shuts down even though usable charge remains. One full discharge-to-charge cycle forces the coulomb counter to relearn the new cell's voltage-capacity curve, and the shutdowns stop. After calibration, the cell should hold voltage above 3.6V at the point the phone previously cut out.

Phone feels warm near the battery during the first charge cycle

A fresh Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a cell that has been cycled several times. The charge IC pushes current into that higher impedance, and the heat is a normal byproduct of the first cycle — not a fault. Warmth should stay moderate and reduce noticeably by the second charge. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or the charge IC shuts down mid-cycle, stop charging and check that the connector is fully seated — a partial connection forces the IC to work harder and raises current draw on the contact points.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my AudioVox CDM-8915 showing the wrong battery percentage after putting in a new battery?

The fuel gauge IC inside the phone was calibrated to the discharge curve of the original cell. A new cell has a different impedance profile, so the stored curve no longer maps correctly to actual charge remaining. Run one complete discharge — use the phone until it powers off — then charge fully without interruption. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates against the new cell and the percentage readout stabilises.

My CDM-8915 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — what happened?

Li-ion cells in storage self-discharge slowly. If the cell dropped below approximately 2.5V, the BMS entered lockout mode to prevent damage from deep discharge. The phone won't respond to a normal power button press in this state. Connect the charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything — the charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage recovers above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically around 2.8–3.0V, at which point the phone will resume normal charging.

Fast charging stopped working on my CDM-8915 right after I swapped the battery — is the charger broken?

The charger is almost certainly fine. On the first cycle after a cell replacement, the BMS in the new pack may not immediately negotiate the charge protocol the phone expects, causing the charge IC to fall back to standard current rather than the higher fast-charge rate. This is a first-cycle BMS handshake issue, not a hardware fault. Complete one full standard charge cycle, then reconnect your fast charger — the protocol negotiation succeeds reliably from the second cycle onward.
