Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AudioVox CDM-8945 / PN-230 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTE--8945)
This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the AudioVox CDM-8945, PN-230, Telit V230, PM230, and PM-230 mobile phones. It matches the OEM part number BTE--8945 and slots directly into the original battery bay. Capacity figures come from the product data sheet — 1500mAh / 5.55Wh.
- CDM-8945 / PN-230 / Telit V230 platform: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V nominal voltage rail. The BMS on each device communicates the same charge termination signal, so one cell works across the entire platform without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery on a CDM-8945 unit through charge and discharge under normal phone load. The BMS accepted charge termination correctly and held voltage within expected range through the full cycle. No mid-cycle cutoff was observed.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: On first use after installation, disable fast charging if available and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before the charge controller starts pushing higher current into an uncalibrated cell.
Why the CDM-8945 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The CDM-8945 uses a fuel gauge IC that tracks battery state by counting charge in and out of the cell — a process called coulomb counting. When you replace the cell, the IC still holds calibration data from the old, degraded cell. The new cell has a different internal resistance and a different discharge curve, so the IC reads percentage against the wrong reference. One full discharge down to automatic shutdown followed by a full charge to 4.2V resets the reference and corrects the percentage display.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the replacement cell
This shutdown is not a fault in the battery — it is a voltage cliff. When the modem transmits or the screen peaks in brightness, current draw spikes sharply. If the fuel gauge IC has not yet recalibrated to the new cell, it underestimates how close the cell voltage is to the BMS cutoff threshold of approximately 3.0V. The cell hits cutoff under load while the display still shows a high percentage. Run one full discharge-charge cycle to let the coulomb counter align with the new cell's actual capacity floor.

Frequently Asked Questions
My CDM-8945 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months — is the battery dead?
The BMS has most likely entered lockout because the cell discharged below 2.5V in storage. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power on — the charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell before the BMS will release the lockout and allow normal operation. If the phone shows no charging indicator after 30 minutes, try a different USB cable and charger. Once the cell recovers above 3.0V, the phone should power on normally.
The phone feels warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges after I installed the new cell — should I be concerned?
Some warmth on the first one or two charge cycles is normal with a new high-impedance cell. A fresh Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal resistance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates a little more heat as it works to push current in. If the phone is hot to the touch or the back panel is uncomfortably warm, stop charging and let it cool before continuing. After two or three full cycles, internal resistance drops and the warmth should disappear.
The battery percentage on my CDM-8945 keeps jumping around — it went from 45% straight to 12% without warning. What's causing that?
The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve and does not yet have an accurate reference point. This erratic jumping is the coulomb counter correcting itself as it gathers real discharge data from the replacement cell. It usually settles after one or two complete discharge-to-charge cycles. Let the phone discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to full — 4.2V at the cell — and the percentage readout should stabilise.
