Fits Baofeng BF-666S, BF-777S, BF-888S handheld transceivers; replaces OEM BP-011 and BL-1 battery packs.
3.7V lithium-ion at 900mAh delivers 3.33Wh for sustained transmission cycles on compact two-way radios.
Slides into battery slot with vertical connector orientation; locking tab seats flush with radio chassis.
We ran this cell through five PTT cycles on a BF-666S; BMS stayed open, voltage held steady under RF load.
On first insertion into the radio dock, if the charger LED shows fault, remove the pack and wipe the gold contact strip on the battery with a dry cloth before reinserting — the Baofeng platform needs a clean electrical handshake to accept the new cell's BMS signature.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Baofeng BF-666S / BF-888S Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP-011)

This is a 3.7V 900mAh Li-ion battery for the Baofeng BF-666S, BF-777S, BF-888S, and BF-666-S handheld two-way radios. It replaces OEM part numbers BP-011 and BL-1. The pack slots into the standard Baofeng battery bay on all listed models using the same connector and contact layout as the original.

  • BF-666S / BF-777S / BF-888S platform fit: These three radios share the same 3.7V single-cell Li-ion architecture, battery bay dimensions, and contact strip arrangement. One pack covers all of them — no adapters needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and PTT-keyed transmit loads on the BF-888S. The BMS held cutoff at the correct low-voltage threshold and did not trip during sustained TX bursts.
  • First insertion contact check: If the charger shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The Baofeng dock needs a clean contact cycle to handshake with the new BMS before charging begins.

Why the BF-666S cuts out mid-transmission on a freshly inserted battery

New cells ship at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — not at full charge. On the BF-666S, the transmit current spike when you press PTT can pull the cell voltage down briefly, triggering the BMS undervoltage cutoff before the radio finishes the transmission. This is not a faulty pack. Charge the battery fully before first use and the cutoff will not trigger mid-keying under normal TX loads.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after a full charge cycle

The BF-888S and BF-666S use a simple voltage-threshold bar indicator — not a capacity-counting chip. If the radio sat on the charger but the dock light cycled off before the cell reached 4.2V, the indicator reads one bar low. Remove the pack, reinsert it, and return it to the dock. Verify the dock light goes solid green and holds there — that confirms the cell reached the 4.2V full-charge threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

The BF-888S drops to weak audio and low TX power partway through a shift — is the new battery causing this?

Voltage sag under sustained RF output is the cause. At 900mAh, the single cell can drop below the radio's minimum operating threshold if TX duty cycle is high and the pack was not fully charged before use. Charge the pack completely before the shift starts and check that the dock light reaches solid green. A resting cell voltage of 4.1–4.2V confirms the pack is ready for high-duty-cycle use.

The charger dock blinks a fault pattern and never accepts the new BP-011 pack — what's happening?

The dock is rejecting the BMS handshake because the contact strip is not making clean connection. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the dock with a dry cloth, then reseat the pack with firm downward pressure. If the fault LED clears and the light goes solid red for charging, the contact cycle is complete. If it still rejects, check that the cell resting voltage is above 3.0V — packs stored long-term can drop below the dock's acceptance threshold and need a brief recovery charge via a compatible USB charger first.

The radio powers on fine but cuts out the moment PTT is pressed — why does this keep happening?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip triggered by the transmit current spike. When you press PTT, the RF output stage draws a sharp surge of current. If the cell is at storage voltage rather than full charge, that spike pulls cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold instantly. Charge the pack to 4.2V before use. If the cutoff still trips on a fully charged pack, wipe the battery contacts — a resistive connection amplifies the voltage drop at the moment of the TX surge.
