Fits Icom IC-F1000S and IC-F2000T portable radios; replaces OEM BC1000 battery pack.
7.4V, 1500mAh lithium-ion delivers full RF output across standard eight-hour security and industrial shifts.
Slide-on connector with positive terminal alignment; seats flush into radio battery slot with audible click.
Bench testing on IC-F1000S showed clean BMS handshake on first insertion; voltage stable under sustained PTT transmission.
If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the Icom platform requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS handshake before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BearCom IC-F1000S / IC-F2000T Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BC1000)

This is a 7.4V, 1500mAh lithium-ion battery replacing the BearCom BC1000 pack. It fits the Icom IC-F1000S, IC-F1000, IC-F2000T, and IC-F2000 portable two-way radios — along with three additional compatible models in the same series. The connector, BMS handshake, and voltage rail match the original pack exactly.

  • IC-F1000 and IC-F2000 platform fit: Both series run the same 7.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication line. One pack covers both model families without any adapter or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through a full charge cycle in an Icom desktop charger. The BMS negotiated charge acceptance on first insertion, held steady through the CC/CV transition, and terminated cleanly at full charge without a fault LED.
  • First-insertion contact check: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first seating, remove the pack and wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth before reseating. The Icom platform requires a clean contact surface to complete the BMS handshake — a single wipe clears most first-use fault LEDs before charging begins.

IC-F1000S bar indicator dropping on a fresh BC1000 pack

A new BC1000 ships at storage voltage — typically 3.7V to 3.8V per cell, not full charge. The IC-F1000S voltage-threshold bar indicator reads that as a partial pack and shows one or two fewer bars than expected. This is not a cell fault. Run one full charge cycle in the dock first, and the indicator will reflect the actual charge state at 4.1V–4.2V per cell.

Radio cuts out or drops TX power mid-transmission on new pack

When PTT is pressed, the IC-F1000S draws a transmit current spike that can exceed 1.5A for a fraction of a second. If the battery BMS detects that spike as an overcurrent event — common when cell impedance is still elevated from storage — it trips the protection circuit and the radio cuts out or steps down to reduced output. The fix is to complete two or three full charge-discharge cycles to bring cell impedance down. After conditioning, the BMS threshold and the transmit spike no longer conflict, and sustained TX output stabilises.

Frequently Asked Questions

The charger dock fault LED came on the moment I inserted the new BC1000 — it's been blinking for 20 minutes and hasn't changed. What's wrong?

A new BC1000 at storage voltage can sit below the dock's acceptance threshold, which triggers the fault LED immediately on insertion. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contacts with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — a dirty or misaligned contact strip is the most common cause on first insertion. If the LED persists after reseating, the cell voltage may have dropped below 6.0V during shipping; leave it seated for 10–15 minutes and the dock's recovery circuit will typically bring it up to acceptance voltage before switching to normal charge mode.

The IC-F1000S shows two bars on a brand-new battery straight out of the box — is the pack faulty?

It is not faulty. The IC-F1000S uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator, so it reads whatever cell voltage is present at the moment — not a stored charge figure. New packs ship at storage voltage, roughly 3.7V–3.8V per cell, which the radio maps to a partial-charge bar count. Run one full charge cycle in the dock, and the indicator will read the correct charge state at 4.1V–4.2V per cell.

After the radio sat unused for three weeks with the BC1000 installed, it won't power on at all — is the battery dead?

Extended storage inside the radio drains the pack through the radio's standby current draw. If cell voltage has dropped below approximately 5.5V total, the BMS locks out to protect the cells and the radio shows nothing on power-on. Seat the pack in the charger dock and leave it for 30–40 minutes — most Icom docks run a low-current recovery pulse before resuming normal charge. If the dock accepts the pack and the charge LED shifts from fault to charge, the BMS has re-initialised and the pack will recover to full capacity.
