Fits Icom IC-F1000S and IC-F2000T portable radios; replaces OEM BC1000 battery pack.
7.4V lithium-ion at 2250mAh delivers sustained transmit current without voltage sag during active shifts.
Gold connector slides straight into the radio battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats flush.
Bench testing showed clean BMS acceptance on first insertion with zero overcurrent events during PTT cycling.
If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the Icom platform requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS handshake before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BearCom IC-F1000S Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BC1000)

This 7.4V, 2250mAh Li-ion battery replaces the BC1000 pack on the Icom IC-F1000S, IC-F1000, IC-F2000T, and IC-F2000 portable two-way radios. It fits the standard battery bay and uses the same gold contact strip and BMS interface as the factory pack. Capacity is 2250mAh — 16.65Wh — matching the original specification.

  • IC-F1000 and IC-F2000 platform fit: The IC-F1000 and IC-F2000 series share the same battery bay geometry, contact pitch, and 7.4V BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers both lines because the radio's charge management circuit reads the same authentication sequence across the platform.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack in an IC-F1000S dock and under PTT load. The BMS passed the transmit current spike without tripping, and the charger dock accepted the pack and progressed to full-charge indication without fault.
  • First-insertion contact cycle on the Icom dock: If the dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The Icom charge dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before it begins charging.

IC-F1000S cuts out mid-transmission on a new BC1000 pack

When the PTT button is pressed, the IC-F1000S draws a sharp current spike to drive the RF output stage — typically well above steady-state draw. A new cell shipped at storage voltage (around 3.6–3.7V per cell) sits closer to the BMS undervoltage threshold than a fully charged cell does. Under that transmit spike, the BMS can interpret the momentary voltage sag as an overcurrent event and cut the pack. The fix is to fully charge the battery before the first transmission — let the dock complete a full cycle to 8.4V before use.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting a new BC1000

The IC-F1000S uses a voltage-threshold bar display — each bar corresponds to a voltage band, not a calculated charge percentage. A new pack leaves the warehouse at storage voltage, not full charge, so the radio reads it as partially depleted. This is normal cell conditioning, not a fault with the pack. Place the battery in the dock and allow a full charge cycle to complete; once the pack reaches 8.4V, the bar indicator will reflect the correct charge level.

Frequently Asked Questions

My IC-F1000S cuts out every time I press PTT on a brand-new battery — is the pack faulty?

Almost certainly not. The IC-F1000S transmit circuit draws a sharp current spike when PTT is pressed, and a new cell at storage voltage sits close enough to the BMS undervoltage threshold that this spike can trigger a protective cutoff. Fully charge the battery in the dock before the first transmission — once the pack reaches 8.4V, the BMS threshold is well clear of the transmit load and the cutoff stops.

The charger dock fault LED came on when I inserted the new BC1000 pack and it never cleared — what's wrong?

The Icom dock requires a clean contact cycle to read the BMS and accept the pack for charging. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry lint-free cloth, and reseat it firmly. If the fault LED still doesn't clear, the cell may have dropped below the dock's acceptance voltage during storage — short-connect it in a compatible radio for 30 seconds to nudge the voltage up, then reinsert into the dock.

The IC-F1000S started dropping to noticeably weaker audio output mid-shift — the battery looks charged, so what's happening?

This is voltage sag under sustained RF load, not a charging fault. As the cell discharges past roughly 7.0V under transmit current draw, the radio's power management steps down TX output to protect the circuit. Check the bar indicator after a long transmission sequence — if it shows two bars or fewer, the cell is genuinely low rather than faulty. Swap to a freshly charged pack mid-shift and put the depleted one on the dock immediately to prevent deep discharge.
