Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BHM Medical A8500 / Voyager Portable Track Lift — 24V Sealed Lead Acid Replacement Battery
This is a 24V, 2300mAh (55.2Wh) sealed lead-acid replacement battery for the BHM Medical A8500 and Voyager Portable Track Lift. It fits directly into the battery compartment of both models and restores primary operating power when the original cell degrades. Voltage and chemistry match OEM specification exactly.
- A8500 and Voyager platform compatibility: Both the A8500 and Voyager Portable Track Lift share the same 24V SLA battery architecture, connector format, and BMS handshake requirements. Swapping between units on the same platform is straightforward — the BMS on each device reads the same cell chemistry signature.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge-discharge cycle and monitored BMS response at both the low-voltage cutoff and the charge termination threshold. The BMS accepted the cell without fault and held charge termination at the expected voltage ceiling for 24V SLA.
- Post-swap self-test protocol: After installation, let the device complete its full power-on self-test cycle without interruption. The A8500's BMS runs a battery verification routine at startup — cutting power mid-sequence flags a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
Why the A8500 alarms low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge
The A8500's BMS uses a learned capacity threshold calibrated to the original cell's internal resistance profile. A new SLA cell has a higher internal resistance before its first few charge-discharge cycles, which causes the BMS to read available energy as lower than actual. This trips the low-battery alarm even when the cell is fully charged. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle before clinical use — by cycle two, the BMS threshold and the cell's resistance profile align, and false alarms stop.
Device will not power on after the replacement battery sat in storage
SLA cells self-discharge at roughly 3–5% per month. If the replacement battery shipped or stored for several months before installation, terminal voltage may have dropped below the A8500's BMS recovery threshold — typically around 20V for a 24V SLA pack. The BMS will refuse to initialise below this floor as a protection against deep-discharge damage. Connect the battery to a 24V SLA-compatible charger and allow a slow recovery charge until terminal voltage reads above 22V before reinstalling in the device.

Frequently Asked Questions
The A8500 is showing a low battery alarm right after I installed and fully charged the new battery — is the cell faulty?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The A8500's BMS calibrates its low-battery threshold against the internal resistance profile of the original cell, and a fresh SLA cell reads higher resistance before its break-in cycles are complete. This makes the BMS flag low charge even on a full cell. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle outside clinical use — after that, the resistance profile drops into the expected range and the alarm clears.
The device powers on but shuts off unexpectedly during a lift cycle — the battery was just installed.
A new SLA cell hasn't reached its full current delivery capacity in the first 10 cycles. The Voyager's motor-start draw creates a brief high-current spike that can pull terminal voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold on a not-yet-broken-in cell, triggering a protective shutdown. This is a load-profile stress issue, not a fault. Complete 5–10 shallow charge-discharge cycles before putting the battery into full clinical load — by that point, the cell's peak current delivery stabilises.
The charge indicator on the A8500 never reaches 100% during the first charge of the new battery — should I be concerned?
No — this is the charge IC applying a conservative termination limit on a new cell it hasn't profiled yet. SLA chargers detect end-of-charge by monitoring the rate of voltage rise; a new cell's voltage curve is flatter in early cycles, so the IC stops short of full termination to avoid overcharge. Allow a second full charge cycle from a low state — by cycle two, the voltage curve steepens and the charge indicator reaches 100% normally. Terminal voltage should read 27.2–27.6V at full charge for a 24V SLA pack.
