Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Blaupunkt AX-77 Series — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 6V, 2100mAh (12.6Wh) Ni-MH replacement battery for the Blaupunkt AX-77 and compatible camera models including the AX-85, AX-90, and AX-120. It slots into the same battery compartment as the original cell and restores full camera operation. No OEM part number is published for this cell, but the voltage and form factor match the original specification.
- AX-77 / AX-85 / AX-90 / AX-120 compatibility: These Blaupunkt camera models share the same 6V Ni-MH cell format, battery bay dimensions, and connector arrangement. The BMS in each body reads the same voltage thresholds, so one replacement cell covers the full range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench, monitoring BMS acceptance and voltage response under load. The cell held steady across the discharge curve with no cutoff events or authentication rejection flags.
- First-install charge cycle: On first use, run a full charge via the OEM charger or camera body before shooting. Some Blaupunkt camera BMS systems need one full charge cycle from inside the body to calibrate the battery-remaining display to the new cell's discharge curve.
Battery percentage jumping on the AX-77 display after fitting a new cell
The AX-77's battery indicator maps voltage thresholds against a stored discharge curve from the original cell. A fresh Ni-MH replacement has a slightly different voltage profile at partial charge states, so the indicator can read 80% then jump to 40% within a few shots. This is a calibration issue, not a fault with the cell. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body and the indicator will re-map to the new cell's actual curve.
Flash not fully recycling between shots on a new Blaupunkt camera battery
Flash recycling pulls a high recharge current from the capacitor circuit immediately after each shot. On a cell that hasn't been broken in, internal resistance is slightly elevated, which slows the current available for capacitor recharge. The result is a longer-than-expected gap between flash-ready signals. After two full charge cycles, internal resistance drops and recycling speed returns to normal. If it persists after conditioning, check that the cell voltage at rest reads at least 7.2V on a multimeter after a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Blaupunkt AX-77 shows a dead battery icon immediately after fitting this new cell — is the battery faulty?
Almost always no. The AX-77's BMS checks the cell's resting voltage before accepting it, and a new Ni-MH cell shipped in storage state can read below the camera's acceptance threshold. Place the cell in the OEM charger first and run a full charge before inserting it into the body. Once the cell reads above the minimum voltage threshold (typically around 6.0V resting), the camera will clear the dead-battery indicator and operate normally.
The battery percentage on my AX-77 jumps around erratically — it read 70% then dropped straight to 10% mid-shoot.
This happens because the AX-77's indicator maps voltage to a discharge curve calibrated for the original cell. A replacement Ni-MH cell has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity slope, so the camera misreads the remaining charge at mid-range states of discharge. Run two complete charge-discharge cycles through the camera body and the indicator will re-map to the actual curve of the new cell. After conditioning, the percentage readout stabilises across the full discharge.
Shot count seems much lower than expected — my AX-77 is dying well before I'd expect on a 2100mAh cell.
Shot count drops fast when flash, continuous autofocus, and image stabilisation are all active at once — combined draw runs significantly higher than the rated still-shot count assumes. Cold ambient temperatures also suppress Ni-MH output capacity noticeably. Run the camera at room temperature with flash set to auto rather than forced-on, and check if shot count improves. If the cell still depletes unusually fast after two conditioning cycles, verify resting voltage sits at or above 6.0V immediately after a full charge.
