Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Grundig 46405 / 46406 / 46407 Series — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This 6V 2100mAh Ni-MH cell replaces the original battery in Grundig camera models 46405, 46406, 46407, BP-8-1, and over 70 additional compatible bodies. It matches the original voltage rail and physical footprint. Capacity is 2100mAh (12.6Wh), sourced to OEM specification.

  • 46405 / 46406 / 46407 platform fit: These three Grundig camera bodies share the same battery bay dimensions, 6V nominal voltage rail, and BMS charge handshake protocol — which is why one cell covers all three. The connector orientation and contact spacing are identical across the group.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Grundig camera body and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without error flags. The charge termination delta-V cutoff triggered correctly, and cell temperature stayed within normal limits throughout the cycle.
  • First-cycle BMS acceptance on Grundig bodies: Complete one full charge cycle through the camera body or OEM charger before your first shoot. Some Grundig BMS systems will not display accurate battery-remaining percentages until the camera has mapped the new cell's discharge curve through at least one complete cycle.

Dead battery indicator showing on a partially charged replacement cell

Grundig camera bodies read battery state by mapping voltage thresholds against a stored discharge curve from the original cell. A fresh Ni-MH replacement has a slightly flatter discharge curve than an aged OEM cell, so the camera's threshold logic misreads the voltage and triggers a low-battery warning early. This is a calibration mismatch, not a fault with the cell. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle through the camera body and the indicator will track correctly.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the camera display

Erratic percentage readouts happen when the camera's voltage-to-percentage lookup table doesn't yet match the new cell's discharge profile. Ni-MH cells have a flatter mid-range voltage curve than the table expects on first use, so the indicator skips between readings as voltage fluctuates under load. This is not a sign of a faulty cell. Charge the battery fully — to a resting voltage of approximately 7.2V across all six cells — then discharge through normal use once, and the display will stabilise.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Grundig 46405 shows "no battery" or refuses to power on with the new cell installed — what's happening?

This is a BMS authentication check on first install. The camera body hasn't yet accepted the new cell's charge signature. Place the battery in the OEM charger or charge it fully through the camera body, then power the camera on again. One complete charge cycle is usually enough to clear the rejection state.

Shot count is lower than I expected — the battery depletes well before I finish a shoot session.

Flash recharge, continuous autofocus, optical stabilisation, and LCD backlight all draw current on top of the base sensor load — actual shot counts drop fast when these are active together. The rated capacity of 2100mAh reflects a standard discharge load, not a sustained mixed-draw scenario. To extend your shoot, disable stabilisation when shooting from a tripod and reduce LCD brightness — those two changes reduce draw more than any other setting.

Flash recycling between shots is slower than it was with the original battery — is the cell underpowered?

Flash capacitor recharge pulls a high burst of current, and if the cell voltage sags under that load, recycle time increases. On a fresh Ni-MH cell this usually means the cell hasn't completed its first full charge cycle and isn't yet delivering full capacity. Charge to 100%, run one complete discharge through normal shooting, then recharge fully — recycle time should return to normal after that conditioning cycle.
