Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Braun Perfusor Compact — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (3/N-600AAK)
This 3.6V, 1500mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the original cell in the Braun Perfusor compact infusion pump. It also fits the Syringe Pump Compact platform. Capacity figure is taken directly from product specification — 5.4Wh total energy.
- Perfusor compact and Syringe Pump Compact platform: Both devices share the same 3.6V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell format covers both because the charge management circuit accepts the same NiMH chemistry and thermistor signal from either unit.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Perfusor compact platform. The BMS accepted the cell, completed its verification sequence, and logged no fault codes during the test run.
- Post-install self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, let the device complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The Perfusor compact runs a BMS verification routine at startup. Cutting power during that sequence triggers a false battery fault that stays latched until the next complete reboot.
Why the Perfusor compact flags a battery fault on a new cell
The Perfusor compact's charge IC applies a conservative acceptance threshold calibrated to a conditioned OEM cell. A fresh replacement hasn't completed a full charge-discharge cycle, so its internal resistance profile sits slightly outside the expected window. The BMS interprets this as a marginal cell and raises a fault flag. Running one complete charge-discharge cycle before clinical use brings the cell's resistance profile into the accepted range and clears the flag.
Charge indicator not reaching 100% on first charge
On first charge, the Perfusor compact's charge IC caps input to a new cell at a reduced rate until it confirms the cell's thermal response is stable. This is normal behaviour — not a fault in the battery or charger. The indicator will stop short of 100% and may hold there for an extended period. Complete a full cycle anyway, then recharge from empty. The second charge cycle should reach 100% with the cell now within the IC's verified acceptance window, confirmed at approximately 4.35V terminal across the cell at top of charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Perfusor compact is alarming low battery immediately after I fitted a fully charged replacement — what's causing this?
The pump's BMS compares the new cell's internal resistance against a stored threshold calibrated to a conditioned cell. A fresh NiMH cell hasn't completed a break-in cycle, so its resistance reads high and the alarm trips even on a full charge. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle on the device before clinical use. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates its baseline and the false alarm clears.
The pump won't power on at all after the replacement cell sat in storage — is the battery dead?
NiMH cells self-discharge in storage. If the cell voltage dropped below the pump's BMS recovery threshold — typically around 3.0V for a 3.6V pack — the controller won't initiate a boot sequence and the device appears completely dead. Connect the pump to mains power and leave it on charge for a minimum of two hours before attempting to power on. This allows the charge IC to trickle-recover the cell above the BMS wake threshold before normal charging begins.
The Perfusor compact is shutting off unexpectedly mid-infusion with the new battery — what's happening?
New NiMH cells haven't stabilised their load response, and the Perfusor compact's infusion profile draws sharp, repeating micro-surges as the drive motor cycles. In the first ten charge-discharge cycles, these surges can cause momentary voltage sag below the pump's low-voltage cutoff, triggering an unplanned shutdown. This is not a faulty cell — it is a break-in behaviour. Complete at least three full charge-discharge cycles before placing the device back into clinical use, then retest under normal operating load.
