Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fly IQ4516 Tornado — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery
This 3.8V, 2050mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Fly IQ4516 Tornado smartphone. It fits the battery bay directly and connects to the same charge IC and fuel gauge system the phone shipped with. Capacity is 2050mAh at 7.79Wh — identical to the factory specification.
- IQ4516 Tornado platform fit: Both model name variants — IQ4516 and Tornado — share the same PCB layout, connector pitch, and BMS handshake protocol. The cell dimensions are 81.40 × 60.26 × 2.86mm, matching the original cavity without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the IQ4516 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without a fault flag, and the charge IC completed a full constant-current/constant-voltage charge sequence to 4.35V cutoff.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC build an accurate discharge curve against the new cell before the charge IC begins pushing higher current into an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Fly IQ4516 after a cell swap
The IQ4516 fuel gauge IC retains the discharge curve it learned from the old, degraded cell. When the new cell is installed, the IC underestimates how much charge remains at mid-range state-of-charge. Under modem or display load, voltage sags faster than the IC predicts, and the phone shuts off to protect the cell — even though the percentage shown was 25% or higher. One full discharge cycle from 100% to automatic shutdown, followed by a full charge without interruption, forces the coulomb counter to recalibrate. After that cycle, percentage readings stabilise and premature shutdowns stop.
Phone warm near the battery during the first few charges
A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a worn cell, and the charge IC on the IQ4516 initially pushes current calibrated to a lower-impedance load. The result is slightly elevated heat at the battery contact area during the first two or three charge sessions. This is normal — internal impedance drops as the cell forms through early cycles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, interrupt the charge and check the USB cable and port for debris or corrosion before resuming.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Fly IQ4516 shows 25% battery then shuts off without warning — is the new cell faulty?
The cell is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC on the IQ4516 stores a discharge curve learned from the old, degraded cell, and it misreads the new cell's voltage under load. When the modem or screen draws current, voltage sags below the IC's cutoff threshold before the displayed percentage reaches zero. Run one full discharge from 100% to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption — this resets the coulomb counter to the new cell's actual curve.
The IQ4516 percentage jumps erratically after I installed the replacement — 60% one minute, 45% the next.
Erratic percentage readings happen because the fuel gauge IC is still using calibration data from the original cell. The new cell has a different discharge curve, and the IC is interpolating incorrectly between its stored reference points. This resolves after one or two full discharge-charge cycles. Avoid charging to 100% and unplugging early during this period — let the IC complete a full cycle each time so it can build accurate reference points across the full voltage range from 4.35V to the cutoff floor.
Fast charging stopped working on my IQ4516 after I swapped the battery — it only trickle charges now.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC on the IQ4516 may default to trickle or standard charge mode because it does not yet have a confirmed temperature and impedance profile for the new cell. This is a protective fallback built into the charge IC, not a fault in the replacement cell. Complete one full standard-rate charge cycle from near-flat to 100%, then reconnect the charger — the IC re-evaluates the cell at the start of each new charge session and will reinstate the faster charge rate once it confirms the cell is within safe parameters.
