Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HTC Touch Diamond 2 / Topaz 100 / T5353 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (TOPA160)
This 3.7V 2200mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original TOPA160 battery in the HTC Touch Diamond 2, Topaz 100, and T5353 smartphones. It fits the same physical bay and connector as the factory unit. Capacity is rated at 8.14Wh.
- Touch Diamond 2, Topaz 100, T5353 fit: All three models share the same battery bay dimensions, contact pin layout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why HTC used one SKU (TOPA160) across the range. The 65.04 × 40.29 × 8.68mm cell fits all three without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Touch Diamond 2 platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the device's charge IC, and the fuel gauge registered capacity without throwing low-battery errors at incorrect state-of-charge levels.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first installation, disable any fast-charge accessories and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle on a standard 5V charger. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Touch Diamond 2
The Touch Diamond 2 runs Windows Mobile, which relies on the fuel gauge IC's coulomb counter to estimate remaining charge. When the original cell ages, the counter's reference curve no longer matches the cell's actual voltage-capacity profile. A replacement cell has a steeper voltage cliff under modem or display load than the gauge expects — so the phone hits the hardware low-voltage cutoff before the OS percentage reaches zero. One full discharge-recharge cycle on a 5V standard charger resets the coulomb counter and eliminates most premature shutdowns.
Phone won't power on after the battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage. If the cell drops below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters a lockout state and blocks normal charging to prevent thermal runaway on an over-discharged cell. The Touch Diamond 2 will show no charge indicator and appear completely dead. To recover, connect to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. Most BMS circuits will accept a trickle from a wall adapter and exit lockout once the cell climbs above 2.9V, at which point normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions
My HTC Touch Diamond 2 keeps shutting off at around 25% battery — why does this happen with a new cell?
The fuel gauge IC on the Touch Diamond 2 is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. When load spikes — from the modem or backlight — the new cell's voltage dips faster than the gauge predicts, triggering a hardware low-voltage cutoff before the percentage hits zero. Run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% on a standard 5V wall charger. After that cycle the coulomb counter recalibrates and the shutdowns stop.
The battery percentage on my Touch Diamond 2 jumps around erratically after I fitted the replacement — is the cell faulty?
It is not a fault. The Windows Mobile fuel gauge IC uses a stored discharge curve from the old cell to estimate state of charge. A new cell with different internal impedance causes the percentage to jump as the counter tries to reconcile voltage readings it was not calibrated for. Complete one full discharge-to-shutdown cycle followed by a full uninterrupted charge to 100% on a 5V wall adapter. The erratic readings settle once the IC has one complete reference cycle logged against the new cell.
My Touch Diamond 2 shows charging but the screen feels warm near the battery and charging is very slow — what is happening?
A new high-impedance cell generates more heat than a well-cycled cell during the constant-current charge phase because the charge IC is pushing current into a cell whose internal resistance has not yet reduced through cycling. This is normal for the first two or three charge cycles on a fresh Li-ion cell. Keep the phone out of a case while charging for the first few cycles and charge on a 5V standard adapter rather than a high-current charger. After three cycles the internal resistance drops and the warmth reduces noticeably.
