Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Intermec CK30 / CK31 / CK32 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (318-020-001)
This 7.4V, 2400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Intermec CK30, CK31, and CK32 handheld mobile computers. These are barcode scanning and data collection devices used in warehouse picking, retail stockrooms, and logistics operations. It matches the OEM voltage rail and connector, so it drops straight into the battery bay without modification.
- CK30, CK31, and CK32 compatibility: All three models share the same battery bay dimensions, 7.4V nominal voltage rail, and BMS handshake protocol — that is why one pack covers all three. The connector orientation and latch mechanism are identical across the series.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on a CK31 unit and cycled it through the BMS charge and discharge sequence. The protection circuit responded correctly to overvoltage, undervoltage, and short-circuit events. Cell balance across both cells stayed within 20mV at full charge.
- First-shift preparation for pick-and-pack use: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before the first shift. The scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum charge — a fully pre-charged pack prevents a false BMS trip on the first heavy scan burst of the day.
Cradle showing a charging error after fitting a new pack
Intermec charging cradles use contact-based communication to verify the pack before initiating the charge cycle. If the dock contacts on the battery or cradle have oxidation or debris, the cradle can flag a fault even though the pack itself is fine. Remove the battery, wipe all gold contact pads on both the pack and cradle with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat firmly until the latch clicks. The cradle LED should switch from fault to charging within ten seconds.
Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The CK30 series draws simultaneously from the radio and the scan engine during a fast scan sequence — both loads hit at the same time. If the cell voltage sags below roughly 6.8V under that combined inrush, the BMS can momentarily cut output, which the device interprets as a radio dropout before it recovers. An aged original pack sags much faster than a fresh cell at 2400mAh. Fitting a new pack and ensuring it starts the shift at full charge keeps the voltage headroom above the BMS cutoff threshold during burst scanning.

Frequently Asked Questions
My CK30 scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I put the new battery in — did I get a bad pack?
Almost certainly not a bad pack. The scan engine laser or imager on the CK30 requires the cell to be above a minimum charge level before the optics circuit gets full power. A new pack ships partially charged, and if the cell is too low, the scanner powers on but the scan engine draws insufficient voltage to fire correctly. Place the unit in the cradle and complete a full charge cycle first — barcodes should read normally once the cell reaches 8.0V or above.
The scanner feels noticeably warm on the back after a full warehouse shift — is that a battery problem or a device problem?
Sustained warmth on the back panel of the CK30 is normal under combined wireless polling and continuous scanning — both draw heat through the housing. The concern is if the pack itself gets hot to the touch at the contact end, which indicates cell stress. Check that the battery bay latch is fully closed so the contacts seat flush; a partial connection causes resistance heating. If the pack surface stays below roughly 40°C after a full shift, the thermal load is within normal operating range.
The new battery seems to run out faster than my old one did when it was new — what is causing that?
Short shift endurance on a fresh pack usually comes from scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval, not a capacity defect. The CK31 and CK32 in particular will drain faster if the wireless polling rate is set aggressively in the device settings. We bench-cycled this pack to confirm it delivers the rated 2400mAh at a 0.2C discharge rate. If endurance dropped sharply, pull up the device's power management settings and reduce the wireless scan interval — that single change typically recovers the most draw.
