Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Microsoft Lumia 640 XL — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery
This 3.8V, 3000mAh Li-Polymer cell is a direct swap for the battery in the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL, covering variants RM-1062 and RM-1063. It delivers 11.4Wh of capacity to power the Snapdragon 400 SoC, 5.7-inch display, and LTE modem. Physical dimensions are 100.91 × 46.90 × 4.75 mm — fitting the original battery bay without modification.
- RM-1062 and RM-1063 compatibility: Both Lumia 640 XL variants use the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and charge IC handshake. One cell covers both hardware revisions without adapters or modifications.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Lumia 640 XL unit. The BMS accepted charging from the standard charger without triggering overcurrent cutoff, and the fuel gauge IC read capacity within normal variation across three full cycles.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This allows the fuel gauge IC to map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins pushing load into an uncalibrated state.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Lumia 640 XL
This is a voltage-cliff failure, not a capacity failure. Under peak load — LTE modem active, screen at full brightness — the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold faster than the fuel gauge IC can report. The phone shuts off because actual cell voltage hits the floor while the percentage counter still shows charge remaining. Running one full discharge-charge cycle recalibrates the coulomb counter and reduces the gap between reported and actual state of charge. If shutdowns persist past two calibration cycles, check that the cell connector is fully seated.
Phone not powering on after the replacement cell sat in storage
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage. If this battery was stored discharged, the BMS may have entered lockout below 2.5V per cell to prevent damage. The phone will not respond to a normal boot attempt in this state. Connect it to a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes before pressing the power button — the charge IC needs time to trickle-charge the cell above the BMS re-initialisation threshold. If the device still does not respond, verify the charger is delivering at least 5V 1A and check the USB port for debris.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my Lumia 640 XL show the wrong battery percentage after fitting the new cell?
The fuel gauge IC on the Lumia 640 XL calibrates its coulomb counter against the discharge curve of the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that curve no longer matches, so the reported percentage drifts from actual charge. Run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% at standard rate — this resets the counter against the new cell's curve. Percentage accuracy stabilises within two to three cycles.
Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery — what's wrong?
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes withholds high-current charging until it confirms the new cell's impedance profile is within safe parameters. This is normal BMS behaviour, not a fault. Charge once at standard rate through a full cycle. If fast charging still does not engage after that, confirm you are using a charger rated for the Lumia 640 XL's charge protocol and that the battery connector is fully latched.
The phone feels warm near the battery while charging — is that a problem?
A new Li-Polymer cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, which generates more heat during the first few charge cycles. Mild warmth near the battery compartment is expected and drops off as the cell cycles in. If the back becomes hot to the touch — above roughly 45°C — disconnect the charger and let the phone cool before resuming. Persistent high heat after three cycles points to a connector seating issue; remove and reseat the battery connector before charging again.
