Fits Motorola Moto G4 Plus (XT1644, XT1643) and replaces OEM part numbers GA40 and SNN5966A.
This 3.8V lithium-polymer cell delivers 2700mAh capacity to restore full processor, display, and modem runtime on your device.
Connector slides into the factory slot with no modification; locking tab aligns vertically and seats flush against the housing edge.
We bench-tested this pack against a worn OEM GA40 — the BMS initialized without fault codes and held voltage curve through a full discharge cycle.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates to the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Motorola Moto G4 Plus — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (GA40 / SNN5966A)

This 3.8V, 2700mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original GA40 / SNN5966A battery in the Motorola Moto G4 Plus, Moto G4 Plus TD-LTE, XT1644, and XT1643. It fits the same physical bay and uses the same connector as the factory cell. Capacity is 10.26Wh — identical to the OEM spec.

  • XT1643 and XT1644 compatibility: Both variants use the same 3.8V power rail, identical flex connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers the full G4 Plus range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on an XT1644 unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the charge IC stepped through trickle, CC, and CV phases as expected.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installing this cell, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% on standard 5V/1A. This gives the coulomb counter a clean baseline against the new cell's discharge curve before fast charge current is applied.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Moto G4 Plus after a cell swap

The G4 Plus fuel gauge IC holds a learned discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When a new cell is installed, that stored curve no longer matches how the fresh cell drops voltage under load. The modem and display together can pull enough current to cause a brief voltage dip that the old curve misreads as near-empty — triggering an immediate shutdown even though meaningful charge remains. One full discharge-to-shutdown and recharge cycle rewrites the coulomb counter's reference, and the shutdowns stop.

Phone not powering on after the replacement cell sat in storage

Li-Polymer cells shipped in storage mode or left uncharged for weeks can drop below 2.5V per cell — the threshold at which the BMS latches into lockout to prevent damage. The G4 Plus will show no screen, no charge indicator, and no response to the power button. Connect the phone to a 5V/1A charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything; the BMS trickle-charges the cell back above the 2.8V unlock threshold before handing control to the main charge IC. Once the charge indicator appears on screen, the cell has cleared lockout and will charge normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Moto G4 Plus show the wrong battery percentage after I installed the new GA40 cell?

The fuel gauge IC on the G4 Plus calibrates its percentage readout against a stored discharge curve from the old cell. A new cell has a different impedance profile, so the reported percentage drifts — often showing 100% for a long stretch, then dropping fast. Run one complete discharge to automatic shutdown followed by a full charge to 100% on a standard 5V/1A adapter. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates and percentage readings stabilise.

Fast charging stopped working on my Moto G4 Plus right after I swapped the battery — is something wrong?

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the G4 Plus charge IC sometimes withholds the high-current fast charge handshake until it has confirmed the new cell's internal resistance is within expected range. This is normal BMS behaviour, not a fault. Charge the phone fully on standard 5V/1A once, then reconnect with the TurboPower adapter. The fast charge protocol should re-engage on the second charge cycle once the IC has a baseline reading from the new cell.

My Moto G4 Plus feels warm near the back panel while charging the new battery — should I be concerned?

A new Li-Polymer cell typically has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates slightly more energy as heat during the constant-current phase. This warmth is normal for the first three to five charge cycles and fades as the cell's impedance settles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch rather than mildly warm, or if the heat persists past five cycles, check that the replacement cell is seated flat with no pinched flex cable — a bent cell generates disproportionate heat above 4.1V.
