Fits Microsoft Lumia 550, Lumia 730, Lumia 735 — replaces OEM part BL-T5A.
3.8V lithium-polymer cell at 1900mAh delivers the original charge capacity your phone needs.
Connector slides into the rear battery door slot with a single contact point.
We ran a full discharge cycle on a test Lumia 550 — the fuel gauge IC accepted the new cell BMS without error codes.
On first use, complete one full discharge-to-shutdown and recharge cycle before heavy use — the coulomb counter needs to recalibrate against this cell's discharge curve to prevent percentage jumps.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Microsoft Lumia 550 / Lumia 730 / Lumia 735 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BL-T5A / BV-T5A)

This is a 3.8V, 1900mAh lithium-polymer replacement battery for the Microsoft Lumia 550 (RM-1127), Lumia 730, and Lumia 735. It slots into the original battery bay and connects to the same charge IC and fuel gauge circuit the phone shipped with. Capacity listed above comes from product data — 7.22Wh total stored energy.

  • Lumia 550 / 730 / 735 platform fit: These models share the same 3.8V cell format, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers the full compatibility list. No adapter or wiring change is needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Lumia platform. The BMS accepted the handshake on first connection, charge IC stepped through pre-charge and CC/CV stages without fault, and the cell held voltage at load without dropping to cutoff prematurely.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to near-empty and then charge to 100% before enabling fast charge. The Lumia fuel gauge IC reads the new cell's discharge curve during that first cycle — skipping it leaves the coulomb counter calibrated to the old, degraded cell and causes erratic percentage readings.

Why the Lumia 550 shuts down suddenly at 20–30% after a battery swap

The Lumia 550's fuel gauge IC inherits the charge curve from the old cell. A new cell has a steeper voltage cliff at the lower end of its discharge range — the phone's coulomb counter hasn't seen it yet, so it predicts remaining capacity based on the old curve. When the modem transmits or the screen brightness spikes, the cell voltage drops faster than the IC expects. The system hits the hardware low-voltage cutoff at what the OS still believes is 25–30%. One full calibration cycle — drain to shutdown, charge uninterrupted to 100% — resets the curve and clears this behaviour.

Phone reports 100% immediately after fitting the new cell, then drops fast

This is a fuel gauge IC artefact, not a faulty cell. The IC holds the last known state of charge from the old battery in non-volatile memory. When a new cell connects, the chip reads a resting voltage around 3.8–3.9V and maps it to a high percentage based on stale calibration data. As actual discharge begins, the real curve diverges from the stored one and the percentage corrects downward sharply. Force a full discharge cycle — let the phone run down until it powers off, then charge to 100% without interruption — and the IC will write a new baseline from 0% to 100% against the replacement cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Lumia 550 powers off at around 25% after I put in the new battery — is the cell defective?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC on the Lumia 550 is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so it miscalculates how much voltage the new cell has left under modem or screen load. When voltage drops below the hardware cutoff threshold — typically around 3.4V — the phone shuts down even though the OS is showing 25% or more. Run one full uninterrupted discharge cycle to shutdown, then charge to 100%, and the IC rewrites its curve against the new cell. Shutdowns at low percentage should stop after that single cycle.

Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery on my Lumia 550 — it only slow charges now.

On the first cycle with a replacement cell, the charge IC can fall back to standard 5V charging because the new BMS hasn't completed a handshake cycle confirming cell impedance is within the fast-charge acceptance window. This is a protective behaviour, not a fault. Complete one full standard charge to 100%, then unplug and reconnect — the IC re-evaluates the cell on the next connection and typically re-enables higher current input. If it doesn't recover after two full cycles, check that the USB port is clean and the cable supports charging current above 1A.

My Lumia 550 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I fitted it.

If the cell self-discharged below approximately 2.5V during storage, the BMS enters lockout mode to prevent charging a deeply depleted lithium-polymer cell at full current. The phone will appear completely dead — no vibration, no charging indicator. Connect it to a wall charger rated at least 1A and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC should detect the cell and apply a low-current pre-charge trickle to bring cell voltage above the BMS re-entry threshold, after which normal charging resumes and the phone will boot.
