Fits Nokia Lumia 550, Lumia 730, Lumia 735 — replaces OEM BL-T5A and BV-T5A cells.
3.8V at 2200mAh delivers power to the processor, modem, and display without interruption.
Connector slides into the original battery slot with a single locking tab on the left side.
We ran a full charge-discharge cycle on the test unit — BMS accepted input current cleanly with no fault codes.
On first use after installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle before enabling any fast-charge features to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nokia Lumia 550 / 730 / 735 Series — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL-T5A)

This is a 3.8V, 2200mAh Li-ion cell replacing the OEM BL-T5A / BV-T5A battery. It fits the Nokia Lumia 550, Lumia 730, Lumia 735, and Lumia 735 Dual SIM, along with six additional compatible models. The cell restores power to the processor, display, modem, and all onboard communications hardware.

  • Lumia 550 / 730 / 735 platform fit: These models share the same BL-T5A form factor, 3.8V nominal rail, and contact pinout. One cell covers the full range because the BMS handshake and physical connector are identical across the platform.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Lumia 730. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake cleanly, hit full cutoff at 4.35V, and held the low-voltage threshold at 3.0V without false trips.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state.

Why the Lumia 550 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The Lumia 550 uses a coulomb counter and a stored discharge curve to estimate remaining charge. When you fit a new cell, that stored curve still reflects the old, degraded battery. The fuel gauge IC reads state-of-charge against the wrong baseline, so the percentage shown on screen is inaccurate from the first boot. Run one full discharge to below 10%, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this forces the IC to rewrite the reference curve against the new cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the replacement cell

This happens when the modem or display fires a high-current draw and the cell voltage drops sharply below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. It is a voltage cliff, not a capacity fault. The fuel gauge IC has not yet correlated the new cell's internal resistance profile to its voltage curve. After one full calibration cycle, the gauge tracks the voltage sag correctly and the phantom shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Lumia 730 shows 25% battery and then shuts down without warning — is this a faulty cell?

This is a voltage cliff, not a dead cell. Under modem or screen load, the cell voltage dips sharply and the BMS cuts power before the fuel gauge registers empty. It happens because the coulomb counter is still calibrated to your old cell's discharge curve. Run one full discharge to near-empty, then charge to 100% without interruption — the gauge will remap to the new cell and the shutdowns should stop.

Fast charging stopped working the first time I plugged in the replacement battery — what happened?

On the first cycle, the charge IC sometimes does not accept the USB protocol handshake with a new cell at an uncharacterised state-of-charge. The phone falls back to standard 5V charging as a precaution. Charge the phone fully once at standard rate, let it discharge normally, then plug in again — the charge controller re-evaluates the handshake on the second cycle and fast charge typically resumes at that point.

The phone won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — how do I recover it?

If a Li-ion cell drops below roughly 2.5V in storage, the BMS locks out to prevent unsafe charging of a deeply discharged cell. Plug the phone into a wall adapter — not a PC USB port — and leave it connected for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically around 3.0V, at which point the phone will boot normally.
