Fits Transpal IND221 surveying instruments, replaces OEM part GP380AFH6YMXZ.
7.2V, 3600mAh Ni-MH pack delivers stable voltage during field measurements and sensor initialization without early cutoff.
Connector slides straight into battery slot with keyed orientation—no force needed, locking tab seats flat against instrument housing.
We bench-tested this cell on IND221 probe startup cycles; BMS accepted initial load spike without dropout or protection activation.
After installation, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment—the IND221 maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings on the first measurement session.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Transpal IND221 — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (GP380AFH6YMXZ)

This is a 7.2V, 3600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Transpal IND221 surveying and testing instrument. It matches the OEM part number GP380AFH6YMXZ and fits the IND221's original battery compartment and connector. Capacity is rated at 25.92Wh — sourced from the product specification, not interpolated.

  • IND221 platform fit: The IND221 battery bay uses a fixed connector orientation and a BMS handshake that expects the 7.2V Ni-MH voltage curve. This pack delivers that curve, so the instrument's battery detection logic accepts it without throwing a fault code on startup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the IND221's charge and discharge sequence. The BMS accepted full charge without trip events, and voltage held stable under the sustained sensor load the instrument draws during a logging session.
  • First-deployment calibration cycle: After installing this battery, run a full calibration cycle through the IND221's instrument menu before heading into the field. The instrument maps battery state during that cycle — skipping it causes the low-battery indicator to fire prematurely during your first measurement session.

BMS lockout after the IND221 sat unused in a carry case for months

Ni-MH packs left discharged in storage can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 5.4V on a 7.2V six-cell pack. When that happens, the instrument either shows no battery indicator or refuses to power on at all. A standard charger may reject the pack at this voltage. The fix is to apply a low-current trickle charge — around 0.1C — until the pack climbs above the recovery floor, then resume normal charging.

IND221 resetting or losing logged data mid-session under sensor load

This happens when sustained sensor draw pulls pack voltage low enough to trigger a momentary BMS undervoltage cutoff. The instrument interprets the brief power drop as a full shutdown and reinitialises, wiping the active log buffer. It is not a firmware fault — it is a voltage dropout event. Check that the pack rests above 7.0V under load before starting a long logging session; anything lower signals a cell that needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

My IND221 shuts down the moment a probe or sensor module initialises — the battery was fully charged an hour ago. What's happening?

Probe and sensor modules draw a short current spike at power-up that can exceed the BMS trip threshold on an aged or cold pack. The BMS cuts output to protect the cells, and the instrument drops power instantly. This is not a software fault — it is a hardware protection response to that inrush current. Warm the pack to room temperature and confirm resting voltage is at or above 7.2V before connecting the probe module.

The IND221 powers on and runs fine, but it shuts off every time I start a USB data transfer to a PC. The battery indicator looks healthy. What causes that?

USB data transfer adds a second draw on top of the instrument's base load — the combined current can push a partially depleted pack into undervoltage territory even when the display still shows a reasonable charge level. The voltage-threshold indicator on Ni-MH instruments lags real cell state under dynamic load. Charge the pack fully before any transfer session, and transfer data before running measurement cycles, not after.

After replacing the battery, the IND221's battery percentage jumps around erratically for the first few charge cycles. Is the new pack faulty?

It is not faulty. The IND221 infers battery state from voltage thresholds, and a new Ni-MH pack has not yet settled into a stable voltage curve — the instrument has no reference history for it yet. Run two to three full charge and discharge cycles through the instrument, including the calibration cycle in the instrument menu, and the percentage display will stabilise as the instrument builds an accurate map of the new pack's voltage profile.
