This happens when the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold under full load before the fuel gauge reaches zero. At peak CPU and display draw, the battery voltage sags faster than the gauge — calibrated to lighter loads — can track. The gauge shows 20–30% remaining, but actual cell voltage has already hit the protection floor. Run the full discharge-calibration cycle described above, and confirm the cell voltage at rest reads above 11.1V after a full charge before dismissing a fault.

My Vulcan T2 4K GT shows the battery as "0%" or "unknown" right after fitting the new cell — is something wrong with the replacement?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The fuel gauge IC on the T2 4K GT needs calibration cycles against new chemistry before it reports accurately. The EEPROM on the old cell held learned capacity data that no longer applies. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — the gauge IC resets against the new cell and the 0% or unknown reading clears.

The Vulcan T2 4K GT stops charging at 80% and won't go higher — is the replacement cell defective?

This is a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a fault in the cell. Some Vulcan firmware versions activate a charge threshold setting that caps charging at 80% to reduce heat. Check the power management settings in your BIOS or any pre-installed Vulcan control software and disable the charge limit. Once turned off, the cell will charge to 100% normally.

System information shows the wrong Wh rating for the new battery — it lists a different capacity than what I bought

The Wh value displayed in system info is pulled from the EEPROM on the battery's BMS chip, which carries the rated specification from the cell manufacturer. This can differ slightly from the actual measured capacity of the installed cell due to EEPROM-rated versus real-world chemistry variance — it is not a sign of a wrong or faulty battery. Confirm the voltage reads 10.8V at full charge and run the battery learn cycle; the system will update its tracked data after two to three full charge-discharge cycles.
