Fits Xiaomi Mi 4A and Redmi 4A with OEM part number BN30 replacement.
This cell delivers 3.85V at 3100mAh capacity to restore full charge cycles on your device.
Connector is soldered directly to the motherboard with no mechanical locking tab present.
We ran full discharge-charge cycles on the Mi 4A platform — BMS accepted the cell without fault codes on insertion.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against this cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Xiaomi Mi 4A / Redmi 4A — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BN30)

This is a 3.85V, 3100mAh (11.94Wh) lithium-polymer cell replacing the OEM BN30 battery in the Xiaomi Mi 4A and Redmi 4A. Both devices share the same battery bay dimensions and connector pinout, so one cell covers the full compatibility list. Dimensions are 71.80 × 59.20 × 4.40 mm — measure your bay before ordering if your unit has been repaired before.

  • Mi 4A and Redmi 4A compatibility: Both models run the same 3.85V power rail, use the same flex connector, and negotiate charge current through the same BMS handshake — one cell spec covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle on a Mi 4A unit. The BMS accepted charge handshake without fault codes, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the expected over-voltage threshold.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard current. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter to the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging starts.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the BN30 replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity defect. Under modem TX bursts or peak screen backlight load, a new cell that hasn't been calibrated yet cannot sustain the voltage the SoC expects — so the phone shuts off even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. The fix is a full discharge-charge cycle with no fast charging on the first pass. After calibration, the fuel gauge IC tracks the cell's actual minimum sustainable voltage and stops triggering low-voltage shutoff prematurely.

Phone won't power on after the BN30 sat in storage

Li-polymer cells self-discharge in storage, and if the cell dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters lockout mode and blocks charge input to prevent thermal events on a deeply discharged cell. Plugging in normally often shows no response. Connect the phone to a low-current charger — a USB port rather than a wall adapter — and leave it for 20 to 30 minutes without pressing the power button. This trickle current is usually enough to bring the cell above the BMS re-enable threshold, after which normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Mi 4A show the wrong battery percentage after fitting the new BN30 cell?

The fuel gauge IC on the Mi 4A uses a coulomb counter calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. When you swap in a new cell, that curve no longer matches, so the percentage readout drifts — often reading full when it isn't, or dropping suddenly. Run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown and then a full uninterrupted charge at standard speed with fast charging disabled. After that single cycle the fuel gauge remaps itself to the new cell and percentage reporting stabilises.

Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the BN30 — standard charging still works, but turbo charge won't kick in. Why?

Xiaomi's charge controller negotiates fast charge current through a BMS handshake on the first cycle. A new cell with a high initial impedance can cause that handshake to fail, so the controller falls back to standard 5V charging as a safety measure. Complete one full charge cycle at standard current, then reconnect with your original Xiaomi charger. The handshake succeeds once the BMS has completed one full cycle and the cell impedance settles — fast charging typically resumes from the second cycle onward.

The phone feels warm near the battery while charging the new cell — is something wrong?

This is expected on the first few charge cycles with a new high-impedance cell. A fresh lithium-polymer cell has higher internal resistance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC dissipates slightly more energy as heat during the constant-current phase. Use the original Xiaomi charger rather than a higher-current third-party adapter for the first two cycles. If the phone stays warm beyond the third full cycle or the back becomes too hot to hold, check that the replacement cell's dimensions match 71.80 × 59.20 × 4.40 mm — a thicker cell pressed against the back cover can restrict heat dissipation.
