Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Assa Abloy UNI TURN — 28.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (45A030CE00002)
This is a 28.8V, 3000mAh Ni-MH battery pack for the Assa Abloy UNI TURN automatic door operator. It provides backup power to the door controller during mains failure, keeping the door operational for emergency egress. Capacity is 86.4Wh — matched to the OEM specification.
- UNI TURN backup power rail: The UNI TURN controller draws from the 28.8V backup rail the moment mains power drops. The battery must match that exact voltage — any deviation and the backup circuit won't engage. This pack runs the same cell count and BMS thresholds as the original to satisfy that handshake.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through simulated mains-fail events and confirmed the BMS released voltage to the controller correctly. The pack held above the UNI TURN's low-voltage cutoff threshold across multiple discharge cycles.
- Post-installation load test: After fitting, manually trigger a power-fail simulation during a low-traffic period. Automatic door backup batteries must complete at least one full open cycle under actual motor load before the installation is signed off — a resting charge on the bench does not confirm real-world performance.
Door not completing a full open cycle on battery backup
The UNI TURN motor draws its highest current at the start of each cycle — this is the load that exposes a weak or partially charged backup battery. If the pack voltage sags below the controller's cutoff during that initial surge, the door stalls mid-cycle or resets to closed. A new battery that hasn't completed a full 24-hour charge will show exactly this behaviour even though the indicator light reads green. Always charge the replacement pack for a full 24 hours before running a live power-fail test.
Controller losing door programming after a power outage
The UNI TURN stores timing, speed, and hold-open parameters in volatile memory that relies on the backup battery to retain settings when mains power drops. If the battery is depleted or has drifted below around 24V under no load, the controller loses that backing voltage and wipes its configuration on every outage. The symptom is a door that reverts to factory defaults — slow speed, no hold-open delay — after each power event. Replace the battery, charge fully, then re-enter the door parameters via the controller keypad.

Frequently Asked Questions
The UNI TURN door moves much slower than normal during a power outage — is something wrong with the motor?
Nothing is wrong with the motor. The UNI TURN controller deliberately reduces door travel speed when running on battery backup to lower current draw and protect the pack from a hard voltage drop. This is firmware behaviour, not a fault. If the door is completing full open and close cycles, the battery and motor are functioning correctly.
The backup battery was replaced six months ago but the door still loses its settings every time the power goes out — why?
Ni-MH packs self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day when the door operator is idle or when the building has frequent short outages that partially drain the pack without allowing a full recharge. If the controller's charge circuit isn't topping the battery back up between events, the pack drops below the voltage needed to hold memory — even though the battery is relatively new. Check that the controller's float charge output reads between 28V and 29.5V at the battery terminals; if it's reading lower, the charge circuit needs inspection before the battery can maintain settings reliably.
The UNI TURN shows a battery fault light but the door still operates normally on mains power — what does that indicate?
A battery fault light with normal mains operation almost always means the controller ran a self-test, attempted to draw from the backup battery, and detected that the pack couldn't hold voltage under even a small load. The door runs fine because it's on mains — but if power fails, the backup won't activate. Pull the battery and measure its open-circuit voltage; a healthy 28.8V Ni-MH pack should read at least 30V after a full charge. Anything below 27V at rest means the pack has degraded and needs replacement.
