Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GEZE DCU1 / 80100404 Series — 24V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (106863)
This is a 24V 1500mAh Ni-MH backup battery for GEZE automatic door operators, cross-referencing OEM part numbers 106863, 25020, and TO1013. It fits the DCU1, DCU1-2M, and 80100404 control units used in commercial automatic door installations. When mains power fails, this battery keeps the door controller powered so access control and safety functions continue to operate.
- DCU1 and DCU1-2M compatibility: These control units share the same 24V backup rail and identical battery connector pinout. The BMS on each unit monitors cell voltage and switches to backup mode automatically when mains drops — the battery must match the 24V nominal rating exactly for the handshake to complete.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through a simulated mains-failure cycle on a DCU1 unit. The BMS accepted the charge without fault codes, switched to backup mode cleanly, and held voltage above the controller's minimum threshold throughout a full door-cycle sequence under load.
- Pre-installation charge test: After fitting, manually trigger a power-fail test during a low-traffic period. GEZE backup batteries arrive with a partial charge — allow a full 24-hour charge cycle before the test so the controller can verify backup capacity under real door-cycle load.
Battery backup not activating during mains failure on DCU1 units
The DCU1 backup circuit checks cell voltage before committing to backup mode. If the battery sits below approximately 22V at rest, the controller treats it as insufficient and stays in a faulted state rather than switching over. A new or long-stored Ni-MH pack can show low resting voltage even though it has not failed — this is not a defective battery. Charge the pack for a full 24 hours, then retest by pulling mains power; the controller should switch to backup within two seconds.
Door controller losing its programmed settings after a power outage
GEZE DCU1 units store door-speed, hold-open time, and obstacle-detection parameters in volatile memory backed by this battery. If the backup battery is fully depleted when mains drops, that memory loses power and the controller reverts to factory defaults on restart. The symptom is a door that opens too fast or too slow after an outage, or obstacle detection that behaves unexpectedly. Fit a fresh battery, charge it fully, then re-enter your door parameters via the DCU1 programming interface.

Frequently Asked Questions
My GEZE automatic door stops halfway through the open cycle when the power goes out — is the battery the problem?
Yes, almost always. A partially charged or aged Ni-MH pack drops voltage sharply under the motor-start load, and the DCU1 controller cuts power to the drive before the cycle completes. This is a low-voltage cutoff, not a controller fault. Fit the new battery, charge it for 24 hours, then trigger a manual power-fail test to confirm the door completes a full open-and-close cycle before returning the door to service.
After fitting the new battery, the GEZE controller still shows a backup-fault warning light — what's wrong?
The DCU1 runs a voltage check on the backup circuit at startup. If the battery resting voltage is below the controller's acceptance threshold — typically around 22V — it logs a backup fault and keeps the warning active. This happens with a freshly installed Ni-MH pack that has not yet reached full charge. Leave the battery on charge for a full 24-hour period, then power-cycle the controller; the fault light should clear once the pack reads above 22V at rest.
The automatic door moves noticeably slower on battery backup than on mains — is something wrong with the replacement battery?
Nothing is wrong. The DCU1 firmware deliberately reduces motor drive speed during backup operation to spread the load and keep voltage above the cutoff threshold for as long as possible. You will see this on any correctly functioning backup battery, including the original GEZE pack. If the door is moving slower than usual even on mains power, that points to a separate motor or control issue — check the mains supply and controller diagnostics rather than the battery.
