Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Levana Astra / Ovia Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (055070)
This is a 3.7V, 1800mAh lithium-polymer battery with OEM part number 055070. It fits the parent unit of the Levana Astra, Ovia, 30018PU, and Keera baby monitors, plus three additional compatible models. When the original cell degrades and the parent unit stops holding charge through a night shift, this is the direct swap.
- Astra, Ovia, Keera, and 30018PU parent units: These models share the same 3.7V battery platform, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol on the parent unit board. One cell covers all four variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a Levana parent unit and monitored BMS charge acceptance across three full cycles. The protection circuit engaged correctly at both low-voltage cutoff and charge termination — no anomalous behaviour at any stage.
- Wireless re-pair after swap: The Astra parent unit stores its camera pairing in volatile memory backed by the main battery. A full power loss — which happens during any battery swap — clears that link. Run the pairing sequence from the monitor menu immediately after fitting the new cell.
Parent unit battery draining faster overnight with screen on
The Astra parent unit runs the LCD backlight, wireless receiver, and audio amplifier simultaneously during active monitoring. That sustained draw is significantly higher than standby. A degraded original cell may have masked this by showing a false full charge before collapsing mid-session. With a fresh 1800mAh cell, enable the screen timeout function in the monitor's display settings — this cuts the backlight after a set interval while keeping audio and wireless active, which reduces the overnight draw substantially.
IR night vision dropping out shortly after battery replacement
The camera unit's IR LEDs pull a brief current spike when night vision activates. If the parent unit battery is below roughly 3.5V when this handshake fires, the radio link can drop and night vision won't initialise. This is a voltage floor issue, not a pairing fault. Charge the parent unit to full before first use — confirmed full charge on the Astra is indicated by a solid green LED on the charging dock, not just the on-screen bar, which can read prematurely high.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Levana parent unit won't connect to the camera after I swapped the battery — what's going on?
Swapping the battery cuts power to the parent unit completely, and the Astra clears its camera pairing when the main cell goes dead. This isn't a fault with the new battery — it's the monitor losing its stored link. Power the parent unit back on, go into the menu, and run the camera pairing sequence manually. The units should re-link within 30 seconds once the pairing mode is active on both sides.
The night vision on my Levana camera stopped working right after I put in a new battery — the screen is on but the IR is black.
Night vision activation sends a command from the parent unit to the camera, and that radio signal is weaker when the parent unit battery is below about 3.5V. A brand-new cell that hasn't been charged yet can sit low enough to cause this. Charge the parent unit to full first — the charging dock LED should show solid green — then power cycle both units and let the camera re-establish night vision mode.
The range on my Levana monitor seems much shorter than it was before — I can barely get to the next room.
Wireless range on the Astra parent unit is directly tied to transmit power, which the radio module scales with available voltage. A partially charged or freshly installed battery that hasn't reached its resting voltage yet will reduce range noticeably. Charge the parent unit fully before testing range — a cell that reads 3.7V nominal needs to reach full charge state closer to 4.2V for the radio to run at rated output. If range stays short after a full charge, confirm the antenna connector on the parent unit board wasn't disturbed during the battery swap.
