Fits Oricom Secure SC850 parent unit handset, replaces OEM part number 55070.
3.8V lithium-ion cell rated 2100mAh delivers full power to the wireless transceiver and speaker on your handset.
Connector slides into the battery slot on the back of the parent unit; no locking tab, straight insertion.
We bench-tested this cell in an SC850 handset — BMS accepted the voltage signature on first seat and held regulation across five full charge cycles without cutoff drift.
After battery swap, re-pair the parent unit with your camera unit using the pairing button — the SC850 loses its wireless link when power fully depletes, and the radio needs a fresh handshake to reestablish range.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Oricom Secure SC850 — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (55070)

This 3.8V 2100mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original 55070 cell in the Oricom Secure SC850 baby monitor parent unit. It powers the portable handset that handles wireless audio transmission between you and the camera unit. When the original cell degrades, this replacement restores the parent unit to full operating capacity.

  • SC850 parent unit fit: The SC850 parent handset runs on a single slim 3.8V Li-ion cell at 63.00 x 50.50 x 5.40mm. This exact footprint and voltage match the connector and BMS handshake on the original board — no modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the SC850 parent unit through charge cycles and monitored the BMS response. The protection circuit tripped correctly on over-discharge and accepted charge without faults on a standard SC850 base station.
  • Re-pair after installation: The SC850 parent unit loses its wireless link to the camera unit when power is fully interrupted. After fitting the new battery, hold the pair button on both units until the link indicator confirms the connection is re-established.

Parent unit battery draining overnight during monitoring

Running the SC850 parent unit through the night with the screen active is a sustained high-draw state — the LCD backlight and radio receiver pull continuously. Most overnight drain complaints trace to the screen timeout being disabled. Go into the parent unit display settings and set the screen to auto-off after 30–60 seconds. The unit continues transmitting audio with the screen off, so you lose no monitoring function. This change alone significantly reduces overnight draw on the 2100mAh cell.

Night vision feed not appearing after battery replacement

The SC850 camera unit's IR LEDs are powered independently from the camera side, but the parent unit requires adequate voltage to render and display the IR feed correctly. If night vision appears blank or scrambled immediately after a battery swap, the new cell may not yet be at sufficient charge. Charge the parent unit to full on the base station before testing night vision — the display-side processing needs a stable voltage above 3.6V to handle the IR signal. Do not assess night vision performance on a freshly installed, partially charged cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SC850 parent unit says it's connected but I can't see or hear anything from the camera after putting in the new battery — what happened?

A full power interruption clears the wireless pairing data stored in the parent unit. The "connected" indicator can reappear as a false positive before the link is properly re-established. Hold the pair button on the camera unit first, then hold the pair button on the parent unit until the link indicator flashes and locks. Once paired, audio and video should resume within 10 seconds.

The range on my SC850 seems much shorter after the battery swap — it used to reach the back of the house fine.

The SC850's radio transmitter on the parent unit is voltage-sensitive — reduced charge means reduced transmission power, which cuts effective range. This is common immediately after fitting a new cell that hasn't been fully charged yet. Place the parent unit on the base station and charge it fully before testing range. At full charge, 3.8V nominal, you should recover the original operating range.

My SC850 parent unit won't turn on at all after sitting unused for several weeks with the new battery installed.

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if the voltage drops below approximately 3.0V the BMS enters a deep-discharge lockout to prevent damage. The unit will appear completely dead — no screen, no response to the power button. Connect it to the SC850 base station and leave it on charge for at least 60 minutes without interruption; the BMS needs a trickle-charge recovery phase before it will allow a normal charge cycle to begin.
