Fits Lindam Baby Talk LD78R parent unit; replaces original 4.8V receiver battery.
4.8V 700mAh Ni-MH chemistry maintains consistent voltage throughout the charge cycle for stable two-way audio transmission and parent unit display operation.
Connector slides into the battery compartment on the rear housing; no locking tab — battery seats flush when inserted fully.
We bench-tested this cell in the LD78R receiver; the BMS accepted the charge without fault codes and held voltage under sustained talk-back cycles.
After battery installation, re-pair the parent unit with the camera unit by pressing the sync button on both devices — the parent unit loses its wireless link when power drops completely.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lindam Baby Talk LD78R — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This 4.8V 700mAh Ni-MH battery fits the Lindam Baby Talk LD78R parent unit — the handheld receiver you carry around the house while the baby sleeps. It replaces the original cell pack when the unit stops holding a charge. Voltage and cell count match the original, so no modifications are needed.

  • LD78R parent unit fit: The Baby Talk LD78R uses a compact Ni-MH pack at 4.8V to power its radio receiver, two-way audio circuit, and display backlight simultaneously. This replacement matches those rails exactly — same voltage, same physical footprint at 44 × 41 × 10.50mm.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through a full charge cycle and confirmed the BMS accepted charge without interruption. Two-way talk and the audio alert circuit both triggered correctly at operating voltage.
  • Re-pairing after install: After fitting this battery, the parent unit may have lost its wireless link to the transmitter unit. Power both units off, then hold the pairing button on the transmitter until the parent unit confirms the connection. This is standard behaviour after a full power interruption on the LD78R.

Parent unit not connecting to the camera unit after battery swap

When the parent unit drops to zero volts — which happens during a battery replacement — it loses the pairing data stored in volatile memory. The transmitter unit is still broadcasting, but the parent unit no longer recognises the channel. To fix this, power both units on, then initiate a fresh pairing sequence from the transmitter side. Once the parent unit displays the signal indicator, the link is restored and audio will pass through normally.

Parent unit battery draining overnight with screen on

Running the LD78R parent unit with the display backlight active through the night puts a sustained draw on a 700mAh pack — the screen, radio receiver, and speaker circuit all pull current simultaneously. This is not a fault with the battery; it reflects how much the original pack had degraded before you replaced it. Enable the screen timeout setting in the parent unit menu so the display cuts after a short idle period. That alone significantly reduces overnight drain on a fresh 700mAh cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

The parent unit shows full bars after charging but the range drops off as soon as I move to another room — why?

Radio transmit power on the LD78R is voltage-sensitive. If the battery was only partially charged when you started using it, the radio circuit won't reach full output power. Charge the parent unit completely before the first use — a full Ni-MH charge cycle takes several hours from flat. Once the pack is fully charged, range should recover to the original operating distance.

Night vision on the camera unit has stopped working since I swapped the parent unit battery — what's happening?

Night vision is driven by the transmitter unit's IR LEDs, not the parent unit battery, so the camera side is worth checking first. However, if the parent unit lost its pairing after the swap, it may be receiving no signal at all and displaying a blank or frozen frame. Re-pair the units using the pairing button on the transmitter. If the IR LEDs still don't activate after pairing, check that the camera unit itself is on mains power and that the night mode trigger (ambient light sensor) isn't obstructed.

The parent unit cuts out and restarts randomly during two-way talk — is this a battery fault?

Two-way talk activates the speaker and the transmit circuit at the same time, which creates a brief current spike. On a depleted or poorly contacted battery, that spike can pull voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold, triggering a restart. Remove the battery, clean the contact pads on both the battery and the unit with a dry cloth, and reseat it firmly. If the restarts stop, the issue was contact resistance rather than cell capacity.
