Fits Motorola MBP160 parent unit; replaces OEM part number BT183342 and BT283342.
2.4V, 700mAh Ni-MH chemistry restores full audio transmission and reception during portable operation away from AC power.
Connector slides into the battery slot on the parent unit back panel; no polarity reversal possible with keyed design.
We bench-tested this cell in the MBP160 charger circuit; BMS accepted full charge without fault codes or cutoff events.
After battery swap, re-pair the parent unit with the camera unit by holding the pairing button — power loss breaks the wireless link.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Motorola MBP160 / Comfort10 Series — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BT183342)

This is a 2.4V, 700mAh Ni-MH battery for the Motorola MBP160 baby monitor parent unit. It fits the MBP160, MBP160PU, Comfort10, and Comfort10PU. The OEM part numbers it replaces are BT183342 and BT283342.

  • MBP160 and Comfort10 parent unit compatibility: Both the MBP160 and Comfort10 series share the same 2.4V Ni-MH cell format, connector pinout, and BMS handshake. One battery fits both lines because the parent unit hardware platform is identical across these models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on an MBP160 parent unit. The BMS accepted the cell without error, charged to full voltage without cutoff trips, and held stable under the continuous audio receiver draw the parent unit sustains during monitoring.
  • Wireless re-pair after swap: The MBP160 parent unit loses its link to the camera unit whenever power is fully interrupted. After fitting this battery, press and hold the Pair button on the camera unit, then confirm the link from the parent unit menu — the monitor will not resume audio transmission until this step is complete.

Why the MBP160 parent unit drains overnight during active monitoring

The parent unit runs its audio receiver and display continuously when screen timeout is disabled. That sustained draw hits the 700mAh cell hard across a full night. A Ni-MH cell at this capacity is not sized for overnight portable operation with the screen active — it is sized for portability within the home while the unit is periodically placed back on charge. Enable the screen timeout in the parent unit settings so the display cuts after inactivity, reducing draw to the audio receiver only.

Parent unit showing full bars but range drops immediately after battery swap

The radio transmitter in the parent unit is voltage-sensitive — it draws peak current during signal bursts, and a partially charged Ni-MH cell sags under that load. The unit may display full charge while the resting voltage is still low from a fresh install. Range will appear reduced until the cell completes its first full charge cycle. Put the parent unit on AC charge until the indicator shows full before using it wirelessly — this brings the cell to 2.8V fully charged and gives the radio transmitter its rated power headroom.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MBP160 parent unit won't connect to the camera after I put in the new battery — why?

Fitting a new battery interrupts power completely, and the MBP160 drops its wireless pairing when that happens. The link does not restore automatically. Press and hold the Pair button on the camera unit, then confirm the connection from the parent unit — once the handshake completes, audio transmission resumes.

The night vision on my MBP160 camera stopped working right after replacing the parent unit battery — is that a battery fault?

Night vision on the camera unit is unrelated to the parent unit battery — the camera runs on its own power. What often happens is the wireless link dropped during the battery swap, so the parent unit is no longer receiving the camera feed at all. Re-pair the units first, then check night vision; if the IR LEDs still do not activate, confirm the camera unit itself is on AC power and the ambient light sensor has triggered.

The new battery charges but the parent unit dies faster than the old one did before it wore out — what's wrong?

A Ni-MH cell needs several charge and discharge cycles to reach rated capacity. A brand-new cell often delivers noticeably less capacity on its first one or two cycles than it will after conditioning. Run three full charge-to-depletion cycles — placing the unit back on AC charge each time it runs low — and capacity will stabilise closer to the rated 700mAh.
